Chapter 428 The One Everyone Was Dying to See
Just moments ago, everyone had been loudly joking about seeing Yuniceโs mysterious husband. But now that he was standing in front of them, not one of them dared to utter a word.
It was Wyatt who broke the silence first. โYunice, I think I scared your friends.โ
The others scrambled to respond, all talking over each other:
โAh, no, not at all!โ
โYouโre being too kind!โ
โActually, thank you so much for having usโuh, I just remembered, my grandpaโs giving birth to my dad at home, gotta go check if itโs a boy or a girlโฆโ
And with that, he turned to leave in a panic. โAlright everyone, time to move outโletโs go!โ
One of his friends yanked his sleeve and grimaced. โYouโre embarrassing usโฆโ
Wyatt smiled. โItโs getting late. Iโll have the kitchen prepare dinner for everyone.โ
They glanced at the bright sun still hanging in the sky.
โNo need! No need! We should really be heading home!โ
โThank you for hosting us today, Yunice.โ
Wyatt offered, โYouโre welcome any time.โ
They all laughed nervouslyโno one accepted the invitation.
With Wyatt around, who would dare come back?
Since they were determined to leave, Yunice didnโt insist they stay. But she had prepared parting gifts.
Everyone was stunned by the lavish presents, and a bit embarrassed. โWe didnโt know you when you got married, so we didnโt get to send a gift, but when you have a baby, you have to invite us!โ
โWeโll tell your son or daughter all about the battles we fought together!โ
Yunice blinked. A baby?
She hadnโt thought that far ahead.
Someone tugged the guy who spoke. โYou canโt just go around pushing people to have kids. Shut up alreadyโyour mouth leaks like a broken faucet.โ
He scratched his head awkwardly, and the group quickly said their goodbyes and boarded the van.
Yunice waved, watching the vans disappear into the distance.
A brief gathering, now followed by everyone going their separate ways.
Everyone had lives and work to return toโit was unlikely theyโd ever all meet again.
She turned to Wyatt and said accusingly, โLook what you did.โ
Wyatt raised a brow. โWhat did I do?โ
โDinner in this house starts at three in the afternoon?โ
Wyatt followed behind her, tone unhurried. โThey chose to leave. I didnโt kick them out.โ
As they walked past the pool, Wyatt glanced at the water, which was already being drained and refilled. โYou didnโt swimโsomething on your mind?โ
Was it that she couldnโt swim? Or was it fear?
Yuniceโs eyes flickered. Wyatt had been watching closely, and he caught the subtle change in her expression. โDonโt lie.โ
He could tell she was searching for an excuse.
โI rememberโyou can swim.โ
She could. During the week-long yacht party, sheโd even jumped into the ocean to fetch a grass ring for Paul. That story had gone viral.
Anyone who dared leap into the sea couldnโt possibly not know how to swim.
So it wasnโt inability. It was fear.
โIโm not scared. I just hate it,โ Yunice said flatly.
She hated jumping into water. Hated not being able to touch the bottom. Hated not having anything to hold on to.
Wyatt didnโt reply right away. Then, without warning, he pulled her close, โCome on. Letโs have some fun.โ She was a little tired, but since he had come back early just to be with her, she didnโt want to kill the mood.
Besidesโฆ she owed him a lot of money. Emotional support was the least she could offer in return.
Pavilion Hall was hugeโso large she still hadnโt explored all its hidden corners.
Wyatt led her to another building and pressed the elevator button for the top floor.
When the doors opened, they stepped into a circular balcony space that revealed an indoor pool.
Yunice frowned slightly, worried he was about to coax her into the water.
Wyatt shrugged off his coat and tossed it over the back of a lounge chair. Then he opened a closetโinside were swim trunks.
Before stepping into the changing room, he gestured. โThereโs a lounger over there.โ
Yunice sat where he pointed. Beside her was a small side table already stocked with tea and fruit.
The place was dead silent. Just the two of them. Even the sound of something dropping echoed faintly.
It wasnโt long before Wyatt emerged from the changing room. Yunice took a sip from her water cup, glancing at him unintentionally.
He was wearing very little.
Sheโd seen parts of him beforeโshirtless, in shortsโbut never quite thisโฆ complete.
He walked over and tested the water. โYou can stay up here and relax.โ
She was secretly relieved not to be dragged in.
As she watched him stretch and dive gracefully into the pool, her gaze drifted down his backโstrong, lean muscle tapering into a narrow waist.
Then she noticed something near his hip, close to his groinโjust the edge of what looked like a tattoo.
She gave a small, distracted hum as he disappeared into the water.
And now, curiosity was thoroughly piqued. Just what exactly is tattooed down there?
