Chapter 368 Hidden Moves
Yunice asked Wyatt, โDid you have anything to do with Elsie getting hurt?โ
Wyatt crossed his arms. โI can deal with others, but not your family.โ
Even though Yunice and the Saunders family were separated by deep hatred, blood ties were still blood ties. Wyatt could help her teach her family a lesson, but he would never actually stab them.
After all, peopleโs hearts were unpredictable. Wyatt didnโt want to plant a landmine for the future.
Wyatt didnโt explain further, but Yunice studied him thoughtfully.
If he was thinking that far ahead, did it mean he had considered staying with her for a long time?
Wyatt didnโt avoid her gaze. Instead, he said, โI really want to install a chip in your brain.โ
Yunice was puzzled.
Wyatt said, โThat way, whenever you need me, Iโll sense it right away.โ
Yunice seriously considered it. โThere are cases where chips have been installed in human brains, but since human thoughts change constantly, the chip couldnโt receive correct commands. In the end, the person was tortured into committing suicideโฆ you still want to put a chip in me?โ
Wyatt: .......
.......
After teasing Wyatt, Yunice bent down to pick up the small table that had fallen to the floor.
Wyatt took it from her casually. โGo lie back down.โ
When Yunice stood up, Wyatt added beside her, โNext time you scheme against someone, donโt use such a stupid method. Your blood only makes the people who love you feel pain.โ
Yunice paused for a moment, then went back to lie on the bed.
Sitting there, she thought for a long time. She felt Wyattโs words were probably meant for someone else through her.
While Yunice lay on the bed, Wyatt continued tidying up the room.
She pulled her gaze away from him, flustered, and busied herself by putting her manuscript pages back on the small table, pretending to be hard at work.
She ran her hand over the torn edge of one pageโฆ the virus analysis she had written had been ripped.
โWyatt,โ Yunice called, โcan you look around for a missing page?โ
Wyatt had almost finished cleaning the room, and there wasnโt any torn paper left lying around.
Still, he checked under the bed and between the cracks in the desk.
Yunice said, โSomeone must have taken it.โ
It couldnโt have disappeared into thin air.
Wyatt asked, โWhat was on it?โ
Yunice frowned. โAn analysis of a new virus from the lab.โ
Wellinges Pharma had access to the countryโs latest information. This virus hadnโt even been publicly disclosed yet. If Yuniceโs draft leaked, it could threaten Wellinges Pharmaโs research.
But the risk was low.
Yunice added quickly, โI wonโt let any lab information leak out again.โ
Wyatt said, โDonโt worry about it. Even if someone picked it up, they wouldnโt have Wellinges Pharmaโs technology.โ
It wasnโt arrogance โ it was fact.
To ease Yuniceโs mind, Wyatt asked, โDid you call Carl here?โ
If Carl hadnโt shown up to hold the line, Yunice might have been dragged out of the room before anyone noticed.
Yunice said, โOwen called him. He was too clever for his own good.โ
โI think he wanted Carl to see him caring about me, to fix his image in Carlโs eyes. But then Elsie acted stupidly and ended up getting Owen in trouble.โ
Of course, Yunice benefited too, since it made Carl completely give up on Owen.
Yuniceโs pen doodled absentmindedly over her manuscript.
She was thinking Elsie getting stabbed probably wasnโt that simple. If Wyattโs people didnโt do itโฆ.
Yunice remembered Carlโs strange behavior. He had said he would punish Owen but then let him go.
And not even twenty minutes later, Elsie was stabbed.
Could it have been Carl?
If so, he was scarily good at covering his tracks, leaving no evidence behind.
Wyatt, on the other hand, was the one getting blamed.
Maybe this was a warning for Wyatt.
Yunice wasnโt sure if her act with Joe could really fool Carl, but she wouldnโt rule out the possibility that Carl had seen through everything.
That evening, Joe came in to deliver Yuniceโs medicine and exchanged a few words with Wyatt.
Then Wyatt left the room.
Yunice called Joe over, โDr. Joe, has there been any news about Elsie?โ
Joe smiled slyly. โNothing escapes Madamโs eyes.โ
Yunice asked, โHow is she?โ
Joe answered concisely, โDidnโt die.โ
Yunice snorted. โShe hasnโt yet paid for all the evil sheโs done. If she died now, itโd be too easy on her.โ
