Chapter 364 Truth Carved in Flesh
Oscar spoke into the phone. โWho are you?โ
The voice on the other end froze.
Oscar expected her to hang up, so he quickly added, โI already have your full info. If you hang up, Wyatt will find you in minutes. You donโt want to die, do you?โ
That name worked like a knife to the throat. The woman immediately caved, her voice trembling. โI didnโt do anything, I swear! I just heard Ms. Yunice was in the hospital and told Ms. Elsie. She told me to keep her updated and said sheโd pay meโฆโ
Oscar kept pushing. โWho are you?โ
She didnโt dare cross Wyatt and spilled it all. โIโm one of the housemaids at Mr. Paulโs estate. My name is Peter.โ
Oscar ended the call, tossed the phone back at Elsie, and said, โYou bribed someone for intel and lied through your teeth.โ
Elsie lowered her head, eyes darting nervously. Tears streamed down her face.
Owen jumped in, defending her. โElsie only did that because she was worried about Yunice! And the maid said it herselfโshe didnโt even know what part of Yunice was hurt. How could Elsie know where to press? I think Yunice staged the whole thing to frame her! We all know how much she hates Elsie. Sheโs totally capable of this! And sheโs always had a high pain threshold. She didnโt even flinch when her internal organs were injured. This cut is nothing. She just splashed some blood around, and you all bought it. Just proves how easy it is for her to manipulate people.โ
Oscar stormed forward and kicked Owen to the ground. โShut the hell up!โ
That was when Wyatt finally burst into the room.
He took one look around, didnโt even break stride, and swept open the privacy curtain to check on Yunice.
Joe had just finished treating her wound, but the blood on her gown was enough to turn Wyattโs eyes cold.
โWho did this?โ he asked, his voice low.
Yunice answered, โElsie.โ
Without another word, Wyatt flung the curtain aside, stepped outโand slapped Elsie so hard she hit the floor.
A grown manโs full-force slap. Her cheek instantly swelled.
Elsie lay there, dazed for nearly half a minute, unable to even blink.
Owen stood frozen in shock. It took him a long moment to stammer out, โWyatt, thatโs going too far!โ
Wyatt scoffed. โSince when have I ever claimed to be reasonable?โ
Owen growled, โWyatt, Mr. Carl is right here. Show some respect.โ
Wyattโs eyes swept the room, his presence radiating power. โIโm standing up for my wife. Got a problem with that?โ
Carlโs expression didnโt change. He didnโt lift a finger to help Owen.
Owenโs face twisted again and again, until he tried to redirect the blame. โWyatt, admit itโYunice got hurt because you hit her!โ
Yunice stepped out from behind the curtain. โIt wasnโt him.โ
Wyatt looked over, his gaze still stormy. When she moved toward him, he met her halfway so she wouldnโt have to walk too far.
Joe stepped out as well, addressing Carl directly. โMr. Carl, Iโm Yuniceโs attending physician. I need to clear this upโYuniceโs injury was from abdominal surgery.โ
Oscarโs brows furrowed. โSurgery? Why?โ
Joe nodded. โThatโs the right question.โ
โEver since Yunice came back from the psychiatric facility, Iโve been overseeing her health. Mr. Carl, Mr. Oscar, I know you both returned from overseas recently. Thereโs a lot you might not know. Her body may look fine on the outsideโbut itโs been through hell.โ
Owen sneered. โOverexaggerating much? Yunice walks around just fine every day. Still has the energy to stir up drama, going after SAT, meddling in the Saunders family, the Powell family, the Cooper family, even the Johnson family. And letโs not forget Quintonโword is sheโs in bed with him too. You expect me to believe someone that โfragileโ is this full of energy?โ
Joe ignored him and handed over a medical file.
โHereโs her initial diagnostic report.โ
Oscar snatched it before Carl could reach it. Carl might not follow the medical terms, but Oscar could read every word.
He scanned the page line by line.
Blunt force trauma. Internal organ compression. Slow abdominal bleeding. Old electrical burn scars. Soft tissue contusions.
This kind of injury profile didnโt happen by accident. It was the kind of damage only long-term abuse could cause.
