Chapter 353 Torn Between Two Devils

โ€œElsie!โ€ Paul roared and kicked the door open!

Elsie flinched, her whole body trembling as she quickly shoved her hands behind her back. Her wide eyes locked onto Paul in terror.

Why is he here?!

Paul stormed over, grabbed Morgan by the collar, and yanked him out of the wheelchair. โ€œYou bastard! You think you can steal my woman?!โ€

Morgan, still injured, fell hard to the floor and glared at Paul with fury in his eyes. But he was far from recoveredโ€”he was all bark and no bite.

Paul ignored him. With one hand, he grabbed Elsie by the throat and dragged her toward him.

Elsie was frozen in fear, staring at him in horror. Then she forced herself to calm down and blurted out, โ€œMr. Paul, why are you attacking Mr. Morgan?!โ€

Paulโ€™s eyes bulged with rage. โ€œYou whore, Elsie. How did I never realize you were this good at seducing men?โ€

Elsie frowned. โ€œMr. Paul, show some respect. We broke up, remember? Youโ€™re married now. Who Iโ€™m with has nothing to do with you.โ€

โ€œWe broke up? Since when did I agree to that? You think just saying it makes it true?โ€ he barked.

โ€œWhat do you expect me to do?โ€ she shot back. โ€œKeep living in shame while watching you play the loving husband to Taylor? Do you have any idea what people have been saying about me since your wedding? I got suspended from the hospital. Store clerks mock me like Iโ€™m some beggar. And where were you? Laughing it up with Taylor! I gave you everything I had. When everyone turned on you, I was the only one who stayed. I sold my own things to raise money for you. And what did I get in return? Paul, if you canโ€™t give an answer, then you shouldnโ€™t have made promises.โ€

Tears streamed down her face as she sobbedโ€”quiet and full of sorrow, as if Paul had betrayed her a hundred times over.

Paulโ€™s expression shifted. There was a flicker of hesitation in his eyes. Every promise heโ€™d made to Elsie flashed through his mind. For the first time, he felt a pang of guilt. He made up his mindโ€”he was going to take her with him.

Morgan, watching from the floor, sneered coldly. โ€œElsie, if you walk out with him today, I swear youโ€™ll regret it.โ€

Elsieโ€™s steps faltered, her gaze torn. Both men were rich, powerful, and came with their own perks. She didnโ€™t want to let go of either of them.

Paul didnโ€™t notice her hesitation. He pulled Elsie behind him and glared at Morgan. โ€œI know Wyattโ€™s backing you, but donโ€™t think that puts you on my level. Watch your back, or one day you wonโ€™t even know what hit you.โ€

Morgan had never taken well to threats. He laughed. โ€œEveryone in Silverbrough knows you live off women. Donโ€™t act all tough here just to go crying at your wifeโ€™s feet later. Beg her to fight your battles, huh? Hahahaโ€ฆโ€

Paulโ€™s pride couldnโ€™t take mockery like that. Fuming, he raised his fist, ready to teach Morgan a lesson.

Elsie panicked and pushed against him. โ€œPaul! Someoneโ€™s coming! Let it go, okay?โ€

Her attempt to calm him only made things worse. โ€œLet them come! Iโ€™m not afraid!โ€ he snapped.

Elsie stamped her foot. โ€œWhat do you expect me to say to people after this?!โ€

That finally got through to Paul. He started thinking. This whole mess wasnโ€™t a good look for anyone.

Elsieโ€™s face went ghost-white. She clung to Paulโ€™s arm, terrified heโ€™d lash out again.

Paul didnโ€™t respond. Jaw clenched, he stormed out of the hospital with a face like thunder, shoved Elsie into the car, and slammed the door behind him as he got in.

His fury terrified her. She whispered in a trembling voice, โ€œPaul, donโ€™t be like thisโ€ฆ. Youโ€™re scaring meโ€ฆโ€

His face was like stone. Suddenly, he raised his hand and grabbed her by the throat again. โ€œYou slept with him?โ€

Sensing how violent he was getting, Elsie quickly denied it. โ€œNo! He said that just to provoke you!โ€

โ€œIโ€™ll ask one more time. Did you sleep with him or not?โ€ Paul growled through gritted teeth.

Elsie shook her head furiously, refusing to admit anything. She knew if she did, he really would kill her.

But Paul wasnโ€™t letting her off. โ€œYou think Iโ€™m an idiot? I heard you! You said your hands and your mouth were sore. Youโ€™ve been getting real creative, huh?โ€

Elsie burst into tears. โ€œItโ€™s not like thatโ€ฆ. Paul, youโ€™ve got it all wrong. Iโ€™m just Mr. Morganโ€™s caregiver. My hands were sore from giving him physical therapy. My mouth was sore from blowing on hot water for him. Nothing happened between us, I swear! After being with you, how could I possibly have room in my heart for another man?โ€
