Chapter 316 Two Choices +8 Pearls

Owen snapped. โ€œHeโ€™s already married! It doesnโ€™t matter if youโ€™re unwillingโ€”youโ€™re the other woman, you know that?โ€

โ€œYunice was able to cut her losses in time. Why canโ€™t you? She left Paul, and now sheโ€™s doing just fine with Wyatt.โ€

Again with the comparisons to Yunice. Why was everyone suddenly on Yuniceโ€™s side?

Elsie said, โ€œBut if I donโ€™t sell the car, I wonโ€™t be able to pay back the five million I oweโ€ฆโ€

Owen said righteously, โ€œThen why did you borrow it in the first place?โ€

โ€œWhy did you bring Jasonโ€™s wife to the birthday banquet?โ€ Elsie argued. โ€œOwen, it really wasnโ€™t me. Yunice set me up. That day at the birthday banquet, sheโ€™s the one who locked Paul and me in there together!โ€

Owen shook his head. โ€œYouโ€™re still making excuses. Elsie, when did you become so calculating?โ€

Elsieโ€™s heart thudded. She knew Owenโ€™s patience with her was running out.

Her gaze instantly dropped, looking like she was about to cry. โ€œOwen, I know I was wrong. Iโ€™ll return everything Paul gave me right away."

Owen finally softened. He patted her shoulder and comforted her, โ€œElsie, believe me, things will get better. Iโ€™ve already lost Yunice. I donโ€™t want to lose you too. So pleaseโ€ฆ donโ€™t let me down again.โ€

Yunice sat in the car, the window cracked just slightly, but Owenโ€™s words came through loud and clear.

So in Owenโ€™s mind, even now, he still thought she left because she had let him down?

He probably hadnโ€™t realized that the bigger disappointment hadnโ€™t even come yet.

After leaving the pawn shop, Owen and Elsie returned to the Saunders family home and gathered everything Paul had ever givenโ€”gifts, deeds, jewelry.

Then they charged over to the Powell family.

But what was humiliating wasโ€ฆ they couldnโ€™t even get the door open.

Just then, another car pulled up beneath the Powell estateโ€™s arched entrance.

Yunice and Oscar got out of the car.

Yunice wore a loose-fitting qipao with a shawl draped over her shoulders. Without looking left or right, she walked up to the Powell familyโ€™s front gate and raised her hand to knock.

Owen saw it was her. A flash of something crossed his eyes, but he quickly remembered that Yunice had already cut ties with him.

His pride wouldnโ€™t allow him to show anything else, so his face quickly turned cold again.

He turned to Oscar and asked, โ€œOscar, what are you doing here?โ€

Oscar gave him a sideways glance. โ€œYou alone represent the Saunders family now?โ€

Then he shot a look of disgust at Elsie. โ€œWhen she made a fool of herself, it wasnโ€™t just your face she disgraced.โ€

Owen swallowed his anger and asked, โ€œThen what is she doing here?โ€

Oscar said, โ€œIf Yunice werenโ€™t here, you wouldnโ€™t even make it past the front gate of the Powell family.โ€

Even if the Powell family didnโ€™t think much of Yunice, she had Wyatt behind her. Offending her meant offending Wyatt.

The Powell family still needed Wyatt. They wouldnโ€™t make trouble for her over something like this.

Owenโ€™s face flushed with embarrassment. Having to rely on Yunice to get in left him feeling humiliated.

Elsie was clenching her skirt so hard that the fabric was nearly torn.

Paul was being kept under house arrest in his own courtyard. When he saw Elsie, he was momentarily stunned.

But the next moment, his gaze shiftedโ€”falling onto Yunice, who had just stepped in behind her.

And thenโ€ฆ he just kept staring.

Elsie noticed immediately, and her eyes turned red. She stepped in front of him, trying to pull Paulโ€™s attention back.

โ€œPaul, letโ€™s break up. This is everything youโ€™ve given me over the yearsโ€”the car deeds, house deeds, jewelry. Itโ€™s all here. From now on, we owe each other nothing.โ€

โ€œBreak up?โ€ Paul immediately flared up. โ€œWhy are we breaking up?โ€

Owen heard that and was instantly enraged. He stormed forward and said, โ€œDo you even hear yourself? Youโ€™re already married, and youโ€™re still trying to drag Elsie into this?โ€

Paul turned to Owen and said, โ€œBut hasnโ€™t it always been this way? Why didnโ€™t you talk about breaking up before? Now that Iโ€™ve run into some trouble, now youโ€™re all cutting ties with me?โ€

His sharp gaze swept across both Elsie and Owen. โ€œWhat is it? You realized thereโ€™s nothing more to gain from me?โ€

Before they could say anything, Yunice stepped forward with a faint smile, giving Elsie a sidelong glance.

โ€œMs. Elsie and Mr. Owen are very principled people,โ€ she said. โ€œArenโ€™t they here to return everything you gave them over the years, just to settle things properly?โ€

Elsie bit her lip so hard she nearly broke the skin. Hearing Yunice say that made her stomach churn.

She had thought Yunice came just to watch her fall.

Yunice continued, โ€œMr. Paul, the way I see it, you only have two choices. One, divorce Taylor and give Ms. Elsie a proper title. Or two, break things off completely, go your separate waysโ€”just like we did.โ€

Paul looked into her eyes.

And for a long timeโ€ฆ he just kept looking.
