Chapter 1551

Orrin, his face flushed but not irritable, burst into the office, the door swinging open forcefully. Charlie Wade followed closely behind. Everyone in the conference room, including Hank and Carl, was shocked by Orrin's vibrant appearance.

Hank and Carl exchanged glances. Though they didn't speak, they shared the same thought: "Yesterday's critically ill eldest brother is radiant today? It's only been a night! This is too suspicious."

The other board members, having not seen Orrin in a long time and only seeing negative news reports, believed he was near death. They'd even mentally prepared themselves for his arrivalโ€”possibly wheelchair-bound, needing oxygen. His vigorous appearance, therefore, was incredibly shocking.

Is this the chairman reported to be critically ill? they wondered. He appeared healthier than before his illness. Is this a miraculous recovery? No, he looked like a middle-aged man who had completely recovered.

Carl nervously poked Hank, whispering, "Second Brother, what's going on?"

Hank gritted his teeth. "I don't know!"

Orrin reached his designated seat at the head of the conference table, gesturing for Charlie Wade to sit to his right. He surveyed the room with a fierce gaze, then said in a commanding voice, "Everyone, I apologize for my absence. The company has functioned well in my stead; you've all worked hard."

The room fell silent. Many small shareholders, bought off by Hank and Carl, were prepared to oust Orrin. His unexpected health, however, left them uncertain.

Hank felt a surge of panic. He needed to regain control. "Chairman," he began, "You've been absent for so long. Everyone here has dedicated much to the company. Isn't that a sign of incompetence on your part?"

Orrin smiled and nodded. "You're right. I was incompetent. Thank you all for your hard work during this difficult time."

He continued, "For twenty years, you've stood by me. I've strived to make the company stronger, never taking credit or abandoning my colleagues. I was absent for a month or two due to personal reasons. Considering my past dedication, shouldn't I be forgiven?"

The shareholders immediately responded, "Of course, Chairman! How could we blame you?"

Chapter 1552

Charlie Wade admired Orrin's strategy. His apparent display of weakness was, in fact, a calculated move. He highlighted his past successes, appealing to their loyalty while subtly reminding them of his ability to continue the company's growth. They had to consider whether anyone could replace him.

The shareholders instantly grasped this. They'd planned to elect Hank as chairman. However, Orrin's words prompted them to reassess Hank's relatively mediocre performance over the past two decades. Why replace a successful leader with someone less capable?

Hank had claimed Orrin was dying. But Orrin appeared perfectly healthyโ€”likely to live another twenty or thirty years. The shareholders' allegiance shifted back to Orrin, the one who could bring them more money.

Charlie Wade was impressed. Orrin's maneuvering was masterful.

Hank felt defeated. His months of scheming had been undone by his brother's few words. And how had Orrin recovered so quickly?

Chapter 1553

Orrin's confident statement reassured the shareholders, sparking smiles and applause. They were primarily focused on profit, not internal conflicts. With Orrin's miraculous recovery, why not continue supporting him?

Hank and Carl's faces hardened. Their carefully laid plans had crumbled at the first hurdle. They felt utterly defeated.

Hank, however, refused to surrender. "Brother," he said sternly, "Advanced pancreatic cancer isn't easily cured. Do you think we're fools? Even Steve Jobs succumbed to the disease. Who's to say you're not deceiving us? If investors learn the truth, the company's stock will plummet."

Orrin calmly stood, "Second Brother, look at meโ€”do I look sick?"

Hank retorted, "Seeing isn't believing. My eyes aren't a CT scanner. You might be faking it."

Orrin, enraged, slapped Hank across the face. The resounding smack echoed through the room. Hank fell backward, his chair crashing to the floor. Carl rushed to his aid.

Orrin smirked, "Second Brother, that slapโ€”was that the strike of a sick man?"

Chapter 1554

Hank, seething, demanded Orrin release his latest medical examination report from a reputable institution.

Orrin agreed, stating he would hold a press conference and undergo a full body CT scan at Fairview Hospital, promising to release the results that afternoon.

Hank, unable to find further fault, begrudgingly agreed. "If your condition hasn't improved, you should resign," he stated.

Charlie Wade then chimed in, "If the chairman must be healthy, neither you nor your brother qualify."

Hank exploded, launching into a tirade about Charlie Wade's supposed lack of credentials and background. Carl and Trevor joined in, threatening Charlie Wade. Orrin, furious at their disrespect, intervened.

Charlie Wade calmly requested the other shareholders leave, suggesting a private conversation. After they departed, Orrin informed Charlie that the room was soundproofed, signaling he could deal with his brothers and nephews without restraint.

Chapter 1555

Hank sneered, dismissing Charlie Wade as a mere son-in-law from a small town, insignificant compared to the Sun family's wealth and power. Carl echoed this sentiment, emphasizing the Sun family's immense influence.

Charlie Wade calmly pointed out that his connection to Orrin belied his humble origins. Hank dismissed him as a simple fortune teller, ineffective in Eastcliff's cutthroat business world.

Charlie Wade revealed that he was actually from Eastcliff, having moved away at age eight. Hank dismissed this, believing Charlie's past held no relevance.

Orrin prompted Hank to consider Charlie's resemblance to someone. Initially dismissive, Hank was stunned when Orrin revealed Charlie's father was the man who had built the Sun family's fortune, a person who had been highly respected, even revered by the family patriarch. Hank's jealousy and resentment toward Charlie Wade's father had faded over the years, overshadowed by his own ambitions. The revelation of Charlie's lineage shocked him, leaving him speechless.
