Seeing Kieran getting angry, Cindy and Mae exchanged a knowing look, each seeing a hint of triumph in the other’s eyes. Even if Kieran wasn’t fond of his fiancée, he wouldn’t want his lady getting cozy with another man. They were eager to see how Freya would pretend before them!
Meanwhile, only Eloise looked deeply troubled as she watched Kieran. “Kieran has never come to pick up Freya from school. And he hasn’t made such a scene to find Freya. Could it be…?” Eloise bit her lip, trying not to overthink it. Hopefully, she was just making a big deal out of nothing.
At the same time, in a restaurant outside the school, Freya looked over a table of lavish food and said, “Mr. Beckett, they spilled your food. Why am I getting punished by treating you to dinner?”
Sitting across from Freya, Ronan sipped his coffee and said, “I saw everything.”
Yra was curious. “Saw what?”
“I saw you deliberately let them knock over your meal.”
Freya, enjoying her steak, retorted, “Mr. Beckett, this is a serious accusation. How could I have known they would spill my food?”
“When you were standing by the washbasin near the restaurant’s serving hatch, in front of that mirror, you saw Eloise and the others through it. You intentionally got them to notice you, all for this spectacle. I guess the goal was to escalate the situation, letting the whole school know you’re no longer the Freya who kowtows to Kieran. So, it’s basically like staking your claim as the future Mrs. Sutton Group, right?”
Facing Ronan’s speculation, Freya thoughtfully nodded. “That makes sense. Go on.”
“The restaurant is the school’s biggest gossip zone. It’s busiest at noon, and news spreads fastest. I must say you’re smart.”
After saying that, Ronan lifted his coffee cup in a toast to Freya, then added, “But you went through all this trouble to tell everyone that you don’t love Kieran and that it’s a business marriage?”
“No. My elaborate plan was to expand the Dawson family’s network.” Freya spoke calmly. “Being Kieran’s fiancée has its uses. I haven’t been to school in a while, and the school is essentially a huge marketplace. Here, you find all sorts of people and families. They are connections. Since the school knows I am Freya and Kieran’s fiancée, I can build connections and open more doors.”
“It seems you’re even smarter than I thought.” Ronan set down his coffee cup.
Freya raised an eyebrow. “Thanks for the compliment, Mr. Beckett.”
Then the server brought over a heart-shaped dessert and, with a smile, said, “This is a little Valentine’s Day treat on the house for every couple.”
“Thanks.” Right as Ronan finished, the Sutton family’s bodyguard located them. Speaking into his Bluetooth earpiece, the bodyguard said, “Mr. Sutton, target located. She’s at Aura Eats, from the school.”
Simultaneously, as Kieran approached the school gates, his face turned colder. He pressed the disconnect button on his Bluetooth headset and coldly commanded the bodyguards behind him, “To Aura Eats.”
“Yes, Mr. Sutton!”
