Chapter 71

Freyaโ€™s eyes turned cold with wrath, her voice brimming with certainty. Seeing Freya so confident, Eloiseโ€™s face soured even more. โ€œCindy, Mae, please letโ€™s get out of here.โ€

โ€œHold on,โ€ Freya said with an icy tone, looking at them squarely. โ€œDonโ€™t remember giving you permission to leave.โ€

Fever Boot is willing to let this go. What more do you want?

Freya glanced at the scattered food remains on the floor, turned to them, and said, โ€œHave you heard of โ€˜waste not, want notโ€™? Is this how your parents taught you to squander food?โ€

Mae leaned forward, her voice sarcastic. โ€œYou think weโ€™re clueless, huh? The Dawson family is on its last legs. Without tying the knot with the Sutton family, youโ€™re nothing but a Ms. Dawson surviving solely on Mr. Suttonโ€™s charity. And here you are, putting on airs?โ€

Mae scanned the crowd deliberately and added, โ€œIs the Dawson family so broke that they canโ€™t even afford a meal? Ms. Dawson, Iโ€™ve tales of you groveling to Mr. Sutton, shining his shoes, and waiting on Audrey hand and foot like a maid. Youโ€™ve secured your position as the future Mrs. Sutton because of Audreyโ€™s favor.โ€

With a provocative glance at Freya, Mae continued, โ€œIf you grovel before us as well, this mealโ€™s on us.โ€

Everyone knows our school cafeteria charges an arm and a leg. And look, Ms. Dawsonโ€™s plate seems to be missing any meat. Must be hard times, huh?

Previously put in her place by Freya, Cindy suddenly said, looking smugly at Freya as if sheโ€™d caught her in a trap.

Cindy yelled to the crowd, โ€œCome one, come all, and witness Ms. Dawson begging for a meal!โ€ Instantly, the cafeteria buzzed with excitement, everyone eager to see what was happening. Eloise made a symbolic attempt to pull Cindy and Mae back, saying, โ€œCindy, Mae, letโ€™s notโ€ฆโ€

Cindy cut her off. โ€œEloise, stay out of this! Freya was shameless. We were ready to let her off, but she doesnโ€™t know when to quit!โ€ Freya watched the scene unfold with a slight smile.

Taken aback by Freyaโ€™s demeanor, Mae glared at her. โ€œWhat are you smiling at?โ€

Freyaโ€™s smile didnโ€™t wane. โ€œIโ€™m amused at how clueless you are.โ€

Mae frowned. โ€œWhat do you mean?โ€

โ€œI think sheโ€™s lost it,โ€ Cindy said. โ€œOtherwise, why would she dare offend Mr. Sutton? Here she is, still talking big.โ€

Freya replied, โ€œYou rushed to spill this plate without asking whose it was.โ€

Cindy scoffed, โ€œThis kind of simple meal? Only the nearly bankrupt Dawson family would eat this. Whose elseโ€™s could it be but yours!โ€

Freya smirked, โ€œThis meal was for Mr. Beckett.โ€

At Freyaโ€™s words, Eloise and Mae turned pale. Only Cindy seemed confused and dismissive as she said, โ€œMr. Beckett? Never heard of him!โ€

โ€œItโ€™s me.โ€ A calm, composed voice cut through the crowd as everyone stepped aside to reveal Ronan.

Who didnโ€™t know Ronan was Summit Universityโ€™s esteemed professor and one of its biggest benefactors? Ronanโ€™s annual donations to the school were in the millions. Thanks to his passion for teaching, the university frequently invited Ronan for lectures. Ronan was an influential figure in school and the CEO of the Beckett Group outside school. Even their fathers would have to address Ronan as Mr. Beckett respectfully.

Upon spotting Ronan, Cindyโ€™s face went pale. โ€œMrโ€ฆ Mr. Beckettโ€ฆ
