A group of students, flashlights in hand, painstakingly pieced together Freya’s shredded exam paper. They meticulously copied the answers onto their own sheets, each hoping to secure graduation.

At first, Eloise scoffed at the idea of cheating, but the looming threat of not graduating pushed her into it.

That evening, Freya returned to her apartment, her phone buzzing with a call from Alison. Lately, the business had been steady—not making a fortune, but not facing any significant troubles either. Freya, puzzled by Alison’s call, picked up the phone.

“Alison? Is there trouble at the office?”

“Nothing major with the office, but…” Alison trailed off. “Today, Jarrett called, asking about a few things. Did you and Mr. Sutton patch things up?”

“Patch things up? With Kieran?” Freya paused, perplexed. “Why would he ask that? What exactly did Jarrett inquire about?”

“Jarrett was asking some of the staff about why Johanna and her son were ousted from the company. He also inquired about recent business matters. I thought… since Mr. Sutton never cared about the Dawson family affairs before…”

Hearing this, Freya fell silent for a moment. Jarrett was Kieran’s right-hand man; his questions were undoubtedly Kieran’s as well. But why the sudden interest in the Dawson family? Could he suspect her true identity? Impossible; Ronan had concealed her identity as Susan flawlessly; no one else could know.

“I understand. But if anyone else probes about the Dawson family or how Johanna and her son left the company, play dumb.”

“Understood, Miss.”

Alison complied, but soon added, “There’s also been frequent visits from the lady, looking to borrow money from the company.”

“Borrow money? The nerve.” Freya couldn’t help but scoff. Johanna had once splurged on a grand event at the Majestic Manor Hotel for Leland Dawson, hoping to boost his social standing. It backfired spectacularly, turning into a scandal instead and costing her a fortune. And now, she was eyeing the company’s funds to bail herself out of her debts.

“Just stick to the plan. No matter how much of a scene Johanna causes, the company’s stance is firm: we’re broke. Not a penny,” Freya instructed.

“Got it, Miss,” Alison quickly agreed.

After hanging up, a smirk played on Freya’s lips. She was curious to see Johanna’s next move.

That night, a commotion erupted at the entrance of Summit University, with Johanna loudly arguing with the security guard.

“My niece studies here! How dare you deny me entry? Do you have any idea who I am? Cross me and you’ll regret it!”
