Chapter 224

Kieranโ€™s gaze was sharp, piercing through the tension. โ€œFreya, what exactly were you up to today? Out with it.โ€

Pain shot through Freyaโ€™s arm, causing her to gasp sharply. Yet, she faced Kieran defiantly, pain be damned, and retorted, โ€œThatโ€™s all of it laid bare at the hospital today, Mr. Sutton. Why bother asking again?โ€

โ€œPlaying dumb now, are we?โ€ Kieranโ€™s words carried a chilling edge as he confronted her. โ€œYou had someone trash Eloiseโ€™s place, didnโ€™t you?โ€

Freya blinked in surprise. Trashed Eloiseโ€™s place?

โ€œFreya, stop playing the innocent card! Yes, someone close to Ellie crossed you, but what does that have to do with Ellie herself? I had no idea you were this vindictive. Had I known, I wouldโ€™ve had you expelled from Summit University.โ€

Hearing Kieran indiscriminately pinning the blame on her, indignation surged within Freya. โ€œKieran!โ€

โ€œNot you? Do you really expect me to believe that? Youโ€™ve been jealous of Ellie for ages. I thought at most youโ€™d play some taboo games, but to target Ellie directly?โ€

Each of Kieranโ€™s words felt like sharp needles against Freyaโ€™s spine.

โ€œKieran, for the last time, I, Freya, am not that despicable!โ€

Despite the pain, Freya managed a cold laugh. โ€œI know you fancy Eloise, yes, and I admit I once had feelings for you. But that doesnโ€™t make me guilty! I donโ€™t deserve to be the sacrificial lamb for your love story! Iโ€™ve already stepped back; what more do you want from me?โ€

Kieran paused, seemingly taken aback by Freyaโ€™s outburst. For a moment, he saw the defiance, disgust, and unyielding spirit in her eyes. By the end of her speech, tears welled up in Freyaโ€™s eyes. She had been the sacrificial lamb in a previous life, a past she vowed never to revisit! The pain in her arm was intensifying.

Kieran took a deep breath, his voice as cold as ever. โ€œFreya, if youโ€™ve done something wrong, you have to face the consequences; itโ€™s not up to me to decide whether youโ€™re innocent or not.โ€

โ€œWhat are you planning to do, Mr. Sutton? Just spit it out.โ€

โ€œOfficers, if you please.โ€

Kieranโ€™s tone was indifferent as two police officers, who had been waiting outside the Dawson residence, stepped in. Freya was stunned at the sight of them.

โ€œKieran, youโ€™re having me arrested?โ€

Even as she voiced it, Freya could scarcely believe it herself. She knew Kieran despised her, and she knew of his affection for Eloise. But after publicly calling off their engagement, leaving her, Freya Dawson, as a pariah in their circle, shunned and deemed unmarriageable, wasnโ€™t that enough? At Summit University, students with a criminal record were expelled, and within their circles, a socialite arrested by the police would be the subject of gossip for life. Kieran surely knew this.

Yet, facing all this, Kieran merely stated coldly, โ€œIf youโ€™re innocent, you have nothing to fear from a police investigation.โ€
