Chapter 249

Gregory watched Julian’s men haul away Dominick’s gifts, his face grim. He didn’t mind the supplements, but the antique paintings and calligraphy… those were irreplaceable treasures. He hadn’t owned them long, but now they were gone. He was powerless to stop it; Dominick had given them freely, so he could take them back.

Only after the house was emptied did Gregory approach the leader. "Why did Dominick take these back?" he asked cautiously. Dominick had told them, personally, the gifts were for Paisley's parents. Even after their earlier disagreement, Dominick hadn't reclaimed them. Gregory had assumed Dominick had forgotten, or simply didn't care. A man like him, president of a vast corporation…

But since Dominick withdrew his support, the Sullivan family's business had plummeted. Partners were breaking contracts; the Jackmans had outright abandoned them, despite suffering repercussions from Dominick himself. The Levines, their most powerful remaining partner, loomed large. Gregory had considered sending them some of the gifts to secure their loyalty.

Instead, Dominick had sent men to retrieve everything.

The leader scoffed. "You dare ask?"

Gregory was stunned. Something was amiss. He’d been consumed by business woes, oblivious to anything else. Only Christina and Brittany could have angered Dominick.

The leader saw his thoughts. "Ask your wife. You'll understand then." He left without another word.

Fury boiled in Gregory. He paced, trying to reach Christina, but her phone went straight to voicemail. He was about to smash his phone when it rang.

"Where the hell have you been?" he roared, but his voice died in his throat. "Mr. Levine! No, I… what do you need?"

His tone shifted instantly to fawning subservience. He nodded and bowed, though Levine wasn't even there. Moments ago, he'd stood proudly before Levine, treated with courtesy, courtesy bought and paid for by Dominick’s influence. Now, with Dominick’s support gone and his other partners fleeing, Gregory was reduced to a supplicant, clinging to Levine as his last lifeline. But even that was unraveling.

"Mr. Levine, there must be a misunderstanding! I’ve already disowned Brittany! She's no longer my daughter! Please, Mr. Levine!"

Levine hung up before Gregory could finish. His last hope vanished.

Gregory slumped onto the sofa. Bankruptcy loomed. He tried calling Furey, only to be met with a cold rejection.

"Ungrateful bitch!" he snarled, throwing his phone to the floor.

Christina entered, noticing the empty spaces on the walls. "Honey, what's going on?"

Gregory glared, his eyes burning with hatred. "You dare come back?" He wanted to tear her apart.
