Listen to this chapter:

Everyone was shocked by James's words. How could the live-in son-in-law wield such influence? How had he managed to get the Blithe King to appear in person?

After a moment of stunned silence, they quickly pieced together the situation. James was seizing the opportunity to project an image of power following the incident. Who else in Cansington could summon the Blithe King in person? Lex took a deep breath and said, "James, regardless of what happened, you're part of the Callahans now. You can't just watch us burn, can you?"

James raised his voice. "Didn't you want to expel me from the Callahans? Didn't you want Thea to divorce me?"

"N-not anymore," Lex stammered.

"You won't be divorced. You're still part of our family."

The family members began to persuade James.

"Thea, what do you say?" Lex asked, glancing at Thea.

Thea considered this for a moment, then said, "As long as you can resolve the Callahans' current crisis, I'll give you another chance." James looked at Gladys. "What do you think, Mom?"

Gladys responded promptly, "No more divorce. We won't discuss divorce again. I won't forgive anyone who dares to mention it in the future."

James was satisfied.

Nothing would have happened if they had listened to him from the beginning. He glanced at Thea and instructed, "Call Xara, Thea."

"Me?" Thea was surprised.

"Of course, it has to be you. She's your cousin, and you misunderstood her. The least you can do is apologize to her personally. She might be willing to intercede with Ms. Brooks if you apologize. You all know she works for Ms. Brooks now, the owner of the Transgenerational Group. What's thirty billion to her?"

Thea pondered this. 'Could I have really misunderstood James and Xara? It does seem plausible. They've only known each other a day. How could they have become involved so quickly?' "I'll try," she said.

She called Xara. "Xara, it's Thea."

"Oh, Thea? I'm a little busy. What can I do for you?" Xara's voice came through the phone.

"I misunderstood you and James, and we acknowledge our mistake. We'll book a table at the Gourmand to apologize in person."

"I've already told you, Thea. There's nothing between James and me. Am I really so shameless?"

"II believe you. One more thing. Could you possibly invite Ms. Brooks as well? What happened today is our fault, and we want to apologize to her in person."

"Is that so? I'll try to ask her. Ms. Brooks has a very tight schedule and is extremely busy. I'm not sure if she'll be able to make time."

"Thank you. Thank you so much."

"I'll call back later." Xara hung up.

The Callahans were relieved. From their perspective, the matter would be resolved if Xara helped, since Scarlett Brooks was incredibly wealthy, and 30 billion was insignificant to her. "I really appreciate you, Thea," Lex said, a smile finally gracing his face. Gladys raised an eyebrow and said proudly, "Xara's from the Hills. She even works at the Transgenerational Group. With a word from her, the Callahans could easily access the commercial city."

"You're right, Gladys."

"We all owe Xara one."

The family showered Gladys with praise. James said indifferently, "Don't celebrate too soon. You all threw a birthday party at the House of Royals without permission. Ms. Brooks is probably furious, and getting her forgiveness won't be easy."

Thea looked at James after he mentioned the House of Royals.

"Does the House of Royals belong to Scarlett?"

"Oh, it should."

"Then how did you manage to get me into the House of Royals for ten days? What's your relationship with Scarlett? Did you arrange for Xara to work at the Transgenerational Group?"
