James went to Common Clinic after leaving Prosperous Dynasty. However, Henry was out, so James, having the keys, let himself in. He ceased operations for the day, shutting the door behind him. He planned to take a nap in the back room; he hadn't slept well in days and intended to catch up on his rest.
Moments after falling asleep, his phone rang. Seeing that it was Thea, he smiled slightly and answered. Thea was crying. As he listened, he felt a warmth spread through him. Tenderly, he replied, "I'm at Common Clinic. I'll be home soon."
He knew the Smiths had sent David back. With Xander dead, they wouldn't dare trouble Thea anymore—they weren't that stupid. They wouldn't risk her getting a divorce. Not if they valued their lives.
James stretched, got out of bed, and left the clinic, closing the door behind him. He was about to leave when he noticed a woman standing outside. She appeared to be twenty-five or twenty-six, lean but curvy, with long black hair, exquisite features, smooth fair skin, and a white dress and white high heels. There was an aura of power about her. She stood in front of a Ferrari, arms crossed, her beautiful eyes meeting his.
James saw her but turned to leave without speaking.
"Hey…" Yuna called. "James."
"Hmm?" James stopped, looking at her with clear confusion. "What's up?"
He studied her, trying to recall if he knew her, frowning in uncertainty. Yuna approached, extending a hand.
"Hi, James. My name is Yuna. It's my birthday tomorrow night, and I'd like you to come to my party."
James frowned. "Are you crazy?" He didn't know her, yet she'd invited him. He turned to leave.
"James, I was classmates with Thea."
His ears perked up at the mention of Thea. He stopped and looked at her again.
"Classmates?"
"Yeah, we're both Cansington University alumni. She majored in fashion design, and I majored in economic management. Oh yeah…" She handed him two invitation cards. "See you tomorrow night at the Cansington Hotel."
James stared at Yuna, finding it odd. How were Thea and Yuna friends if they were in different courses? Thea had been disfigured during university; nobody wanted to be friends with her. Yuna, however, was gorgeous, likely the school belle. Why invite them? Nevertheless, he pocketed the invitations.
"I'll ask Thea if she knows you. If she wants to go, we'll be there."
James left. Yuna, standing by her Ferrari convertible, watched him go. Only after he left did she make a call.
"Find out who Thea's university classmates were. Invite all of them to the party."
"Yes, miss," the voice replied.
"James Caden and the Black Dragon. Interesting."
Yuna hung up and giggled. She was a Lawson—a prominent Capital family, as influential as the Yates and the Graysons. After James had stolen her car and gone to Ella Corporation, she'd used her resources to investigate him, obtaining pictures of him being made a general. She knew his true identity. Who knew the highly regarded Black Dragon of the Five Commanders was in Cansington, and the Callahans' son-in-law?
"Thea is the luckiest woman on earth."
