Chapter 951: A Dream
Although Archie showed no obvious symptoms, Roxanne still prepared a cup of medicine for him. Archie took the cup, looking at her worriedly. "Aren't you going to drink some, Mommy?" he asked. I remember Mommy also had some water from my cup.
Lucian's gaze darkened after hearing Archie's words. He knew the children had drunk the contaminated water, but he'd just learned Roxanne had as well, and she was pretending otherwise.
"I only had a sip, so I'm fine," Roxanne reassured Archie with a smile. Archie glanced worriedly at his mother, then at Lucian. Mommy might not listen to me, but she might listen to Daddy.
Meeting Archie's gaze, Lucian said in a deep voice, "You should drink some medicine, just in case." He picked up a fresh cup and handed it to Roxanne.
Roxanne, having no choice, accepted the cup and poured the remaining medicine into it. She drank it in one gulp, then carefully fed Benny, who was in her arms.
Benny, still slightly conscious, cooperatively drank the medicine sip by sip. The warm medicine soothed his stomach, easing his pain, and his expression relaxed.
After feeding Benny, Roxanne asked, "How are you feeling now?"
Benny grinned obediently. "Thank you, Mommy. I feel so much better now."
Roxanne sighed in relief, then turned to Estella, who was in Lucian's arms. Estella's eyes remained closed; she seemed weak. Lucian was attempting to feed her, but he clearly lacked experience; much of the medicine spilled, and Estella instinctively spat out the rest, finding it too bitter.
Lucian's brows furrowed in anxiety and self-reproach. "Let me do it," Roxanne offered, unable to watch any longer. She reached for the cup.
Lucian looked at her, then silently handed over the cup. Roxanne's touch was gentler; she slowly fed Estella the medicine. Estella still spat some out, but she consumed significantly more than with Lucian.
After finishing the medicine, Estella gradually woke. Opening her eyes, she saw Roxanne's worried face and softly called out, "Ms. Jarvis..."
Roxanne felt a surge of relief and tears welled up. It was fortunate Lucian had delivered the medicine in time; otherwise, the children might have suffered far more.
"How are you feeling?" Lucian asked quietly.
Still dazed, Estella thought she was dreaming. Seeing Lucian, she stared at him in confusion. "Daddy?"
A rare tender expression softened Lucian's face as he hummed in response. Puzzled, Estella tilted her head. "Why are you here? I remember Daddy saying he wouldn't come."
Lucian gently patted her head. "Archie told me you were sick, so I brought medicine."
