Chapter 764: Have a Nice Chat

In her room, Estella felt upset, remembering Aubree's expression when she'd entered earlier. She truly didn't want to stay with Aubree, but her father wouldn't say when he'd send her away.

After considerable contemplation, Estella called Roxanne. Roxanne answered quickly. "Essie, what's wrong?" Seeing Estella's name, Roxanne's heart clenched; she feared Aubree had bullied her again.

Estella, even more distressed, mumbled, "Ms. Jarvis, can you pick me up?"

Roxanne frowned, concerned. "Why? Did Ms. Pearson get angry?"

Estella shook her head. "Daddy's here. She wouldn't dare."

Relieved, Roxanne asked, "Then why did you call?"

Lucian had only recently brought Estella home. Roxanne assumed something had happened, but it seemed otherwise.

Estella pouted. "I don't like Ms. Pearson, but she keeps talking to me. I want to avoid her."

Roxanne sighed inwardly. She'd promised to help Estella speak with Lucian, but judging by his earlier reaction, she doubted he'd listened. She felt she'd failed Estella. Had she known, she would have insisted Estella stay elsewhere.

After berating herself, Roxanne gently replied, "Essie, I can't come now. If you don't like Ms. Pearson, stay in your room and avoid her when you're alone, okay?" She worried about Estella being alone with Aubree.

Estella, having learned her lesson, obediently agreed, "Okay."

Roxanne breathed a sigh of relief, continuing to comfort Estella. "Your daddy probably won't let Ms. Pearson stay long. Don't worry, Essie."

Estella remembered her father's earlier response and puckered her lips skeptically. Roxanne, seeing Estella's unconvinced expression, knew she couldn't change her mind and tried a different tactic.

"Archie and Benny said you learned to make paper roses in kindergarten. Can you make one for me?" Roxanne asked softly.

Estella readily agreed, "No problem!"

Roxanne chuckled, though her worry remained. Just then, Archie and Benny came downstairs, looking expectantly at her. "Mommy, are you on the phone with Essie?"

Roxanne nodded. They jumped with joy, wanting to speak with Estella, eager to hear if she'd found anything.

Roxanne, without hesitation, told Estella before handing the phone to Archie and Benny. "Have a nice chat with Essie."

They nodded, taking the phone and running off.
