Chapter 670

When she turned back, Roxanne saw Lucian pouring two cups of water, placing one before Archie and Benny. She was puzzled. Was he doing this because they'd asked, or to ease the earlier awkwardness?

Just as her thoughts swirled, a cup of water appeared before her. Roxanne glanced at Lucian, who smiled mysteriously before withdrawing his hand and returning his attention to the stage. After a long moment, Roxanne murmured her thanks, feeling apologetic for her earlier misunderstanding. To show she held no grudge, she took a sip.

The childrenโ€™s lips curved upward at the adults' interaction, sensing Roxanne's softened demeanor.

When the concert ended, they left the auditorium. Night had fallen, but the square buzzed with activity and colorful lights.

โ€œMommy!โ€ Benny tugged her hand. Roxanne followed his gaze to a nearby musical fountain, captivating children and adults alike. It was the children's first experience with such a fountain, a rare nighttime outing for them.

She'd planned to go straight home, wanting to minimize interaction with Lucian. But seeing their excitement, she couldn't leave.

"Let's play there!" Benny urged, already turning toward the fountain.

Roxanne hesitated briefly before agreeing. Turning to Lucian, she said, "I'll take the boys to the fountain. You can take Essie home, Mr. Farwell. I'll call a taxi later." She assumed Estella, who disliked crowds, would readily comply.

To her surprise, Estella tugged Lucian's sleeve. "Daddy, I want to play too!"

Roxanne was startled by Estella's enthusiasm. Lucian simply patted his daughter's head. Meeting Roxanne's gaze, he said, "It's rare for Essie to be so direct. I'm afraid I can't oblige, Ms. Jarvis."

He then led Estella toward the fountain. Roxanne watched, mesmerized; Estella hopped happily, hand in hand with her father.

Midway, Estella spoke to Lucian. He nodded, and she released his hand, sprinting towards Roxanne. "Let's go together, Ms. Jarvis!"

Before Roxanne could react, Estella took her hand, pulling her toward the already splashing Archie and Benny. "Let's go, Mommy!" they urged, already immersed in the fountain's playful spray.
