"Daddy!" Estella ran into Lucian's arms the moment she saw him, charmed by his striking appearance. Lucian squatted, hugged Estella, and held her aloft as he looked at Roxanne.
Roxanne, wearing a simple white princess dress and a tiny crystal crown that held her long hair, looked dazzling. Her eyes sparkled, and a faint smile played on her lips as she met his gaze. He couldn't look away.
Archie and Benny stood quietly behind Roxanne, observing Lucian and imagining their own futures. Though they disliked him, they couldn't deny his handsomeness.
"Let's go inside," Lucian said, breaking the silence, and led the way. Roxanne nodded slightly and followed, with Archie and Benny trailing behind.
The anniversary celebration hadn't yet begun. Children and parents, already made up, explored the kindergarten. The fairytale theme transformed the kindergarten into a magical world. At first glance, Roxanne felt she'd stepped into a fairytale.
Their entry revealed a winter wonderland: pumpkin lanterns and carriages lined the path, one adorned with a glass slipper. Further in, a colorful candy house beckoned, its baskets half-emptied.
Archie and Benny stopped dead at the sight of the candy. Before Roxanne could fetch them treats, Lucian had already collected a handful.
"Isn't this too much? What about the other children?" Roxanne asked.
Lucian looked at her with amusement. "Someone will refill the baskets later."
Roxanne, realizing her oversight, pursed her lips in an awkward smile. Despite their aversion to Lucian, Archie and Benny couldn't resist the candy. Hesitantly, they each took two, sweetly thanking Mr. Farwell.
Lucian nodded, took two candies for Estella, then filled the large pocket of her witch costume with the rest. Instantly, her pocket bulged.
Many parents and children were dressed in fairytale costumes. Children skipped ahead, held by their parents. In the distance, Roxanne spotted a Little Red Riding Hood.
As she admired the child's cuteness, the girl's companion glanced in their direction. Surprised by their eye contact, Roxanne smiled and greeted the woman, "Ms. Clark."
Cassandra, holding little Chloe's hand, approached. Stunned to see Roxanne, Archie, and Benny, she exclaimed, "Ms. Jarvis, you're beautiful today! Archie and Benny are adorable!"
Roxanne smiled. "I wondered who the cute Little Red Riding Hood was. It's Chloe!"
Cassandra, playing Grandma Wolf, wore old-lady attire, making Chloe appear even more vibrant and endearing.
"The kindergarten provided a lovely cloak," Cassandra remarked, glancing subconsciously at Lucian, who walked ahead without acknowledging her.
