The next evening, Roxanne planned to leave work early to collect the children from school. It had been a long time since she had, as she'd been avoiding Lucian. Now that a meeting was inevitable, there was no need to hide.

Holding that thought, Roxanne called Lysa, informing her she would pick up the children. Lysa readily agreed.

Roxanne then immersed herself in work. Even though the Damaris family's research institute was still in the planning stages, many details required confirmation with her own institute. Roxanne, determined not to disappoint the Damaris family, ensured her preparations were thorough.

Meanwhile, Colby finished his work at the research facility and arrived with a progress report. Seeing her engrossed in her work, he quietly sat opposite her, waiting for her to finish.

Only after a considerable time did Roxanne look up. Seeing Colby, she was surprised. "Dr. Galloway, why are you here? When did you arrive?"

Colby grinned. "Just now. Since you were busy, I didn't want to interrupt."

Roxanne nodded slightly. "What is it? How are things at the facility?"

Colby replied, "I was going to discuss the projects from the last few days. They've gone smoothly, so you can prepare for our collaboration with the Damaris family without worry. In fact," he added admiringly, "everyone in the institute is excited about the collaboration. They're looking forward to it and grateful for securing this opportunity."

Roxanne poured him coffee, smiling humbly. "The credit belongs to everyone here. They're the ones who keep this place running. Regardless of my abilities, the Damaris family wouldn't have chosen us solely because of me."

Roxanne was certain the Damaris family had thoroughly vetted her institute before selecting them as partners.

After thanking her for the coffee, Colby inquired about her preparations. "How's it going on your end?"

Roxanne casually rotated her screen to show him. Although the collaboration details were finalized, the Damaris family's institute wasn't fully operational. Therefore, Roxanne had spent the past few days identifying the family's research direction and reviewing the latest information to prepare.

After reviewing her work, Colby furrowed his brow. "This is an unexplored field for our institute. I'm unsure if we can meet the Damaris family's expectations."

Roxanne smiled. "That's why I'm preparing thoroughly. Moreover, a successful collaboration will expand our research areas, benefiting our future development significantly."

Colby nodded thoughtfully. "I understand. I'll ensure everyone is well prepared."

Their discussion was interrupted by a knock. Roxanne opened the door to find a researcher in a lab coat.

He said awkwardly, "Dr. Jarvis, I apologize for disturbing you before you leave, but we've encountered a problem with an experiment. Could you take a look?"

Roxanne readily agreed, and Colby accompanied them back to the research facility.
