Upon hearing her promise, Jonathan smiled and replied, "Your words have put my mind at ease. I'll get the contract drafted tomorrow. When the time comes, all you need to do is sign it." Roxanne nodded. With the reward settled, Jonathan escorted her to the door and watched her drive away. Only when her car was out of sight did he return and call Lucian.

"How is Old Mr. Queen?" Lucian's voice, accompanied by the sound of running water, crackled through the phone. Jonathan grinned. "He's already awake. Dr. Jarvis is amazing."

Recalling Lucian and Roxanne's earlier awkwardness, Jonathan asked curiously, "Lucian, did you know Dr. Jarvis beforehand? Something seems amiss between you two. I've never seen you behave that way with another woman."

Even though he'd made things difficult for her, he'd also defended her. Initially, Jonathan thought Lucian didn't take Roxanne seriously. However, after seeing Lucian help her and insist Frieda apologize, he was baffled. He suspected they knew each other, but couldn't guess their relationship. Lucian only answered because of his concern for Alfred; the question darkened his expression.

"I don't know her. If I did, I'd have already gotten her to treat Old Mr. Queen." Before Jonathan could reply, Lucian hung up, piquing his curiosity. Lucian's tone had been strangely awkward. Did they really not know each other?

By the time Roxanne reached home, it was late. Madilyn and the boys were playing Lego. Seeing Roxanne, they dropped their Lego and rushed to greet her.

"Mommy!" the boys cried, throwing themselves into her arms. "Why are you so late? We're sleepy." They yawned, eyes drooping. Roxanne tousled their hair. "I'm sorry for keeping you waiting." She looked toward Madilyn, wanting to thank her. Sensing this, Madilyn waved her hands dismissively.

"Don't worry. They're my godsons. Have you eaten? It's so late!" Roxanne shook her head. "I didn't get to eat; I was busy with work." She'd lost track of time treating Alfred and discussing supplies with Jonathan. Roxanne's reminder, however, made her stomach rumble. Madilyn gave her an annoyed look.

"I knew this would happen. I saved some dinner. Eat quickly." The boys urged her on, herding her to the dining table.

Warmed by their kindness, Roxanne ate while Madilyn and the children stayed with her. When Roxanne was nearly finished, Madilyn asked, "Considering how late you are, is the patient's condition serious? How's the progress?" Roxanne smiled and nodded. "It is. Nevertheless, I'm confident I can cure him. And I'll solve the supply issue at the research institute." Her mood lifted considerably. Madilyn shared her confidence. "Since you're confident, I trust you'll cure him!"
