Chapter 306: Care Through the Night

Shortly after, Sonny arrived with the supplies for Roxanne's IV drip. After setting everything up and inserting the needle, he told Lucian, "Ms. Jarvis will require a longer IV treatment than usual. She'll need someone to monitor her and change the IV bag."

Roxanne immediately said, "Lysa, I'll need your help tonight."

Lysa was about to agree when Lucian interrupted, "I'll stay."

Everyone's expressions changed. Lysa was surprised, remembering Roxanne's aversion to Lucian's presence. Even the boys, Archie and Benny, were reluctant. However, since Lucian had arranged the doctor's visit, Lysa couldn't object. She looked questioningly at Roxanne.

Roxanne frowned. "That's not necessary; Lysa can change the IV bags. Mr. Farwell, you're a busy man. Don't waste your time here."

Archie and Benny added, "We'll help Mommy. Thank you, but no thank you, Mr. Farwell." They only wanted the doctor's examination, not their father's company.

Estella, in contrast, looked disappointed. If her father left, she couldn't stay either. She was deeply worried about Roxanne.

Lucian glanced at Estella, then back at Roxanne. "Essie won't willingly leave with me while you're ill, and I can't leave her alone. I'm staying tonight. Lysa, please take the children to rest."

Lysa looked dubiously at Roxanne, who was watching Estella. Estella, pursing her lips, worriedly muttered in her high-pitched voice, "I won't go if Ms. Jarvis isn't well." She then lay beside Roxanne, clinging to her arm.

This was Estella's first time cuddling Roxanne, so Roxanne couldn't ask her to leave. Besides, she was ill, and Lucian wouldn't easily be persuaded to leave. She silently agreed to his staying.

Lucian's expression softened. After instructing Sonny on Roxanne's care, he sent the doctor away, then quietly sat on the couch in Roxanne's room. The children stayed near the bed, chatting with Roxanne until she grew drowsy and fell asleep.

Lucian asked Lysa to take the children to bed, remaining to watch over Roxanne. He barely slept, constantly monitoring the IV bag.

The next morning, Roxanne woke, still slightly dazed. After a moment, she remembered Lucian had stayed. She looked at the IV bagโ€”the treatment was finished. Lucian sat beside her, his hand gently holding hers to prevent her from moving in her sleep. Her waking movement caused his eyes to open. They were bloodshot from lack of sleep. Their eyes met, then Roxanne quickly looked away.

His slightly hoarse voice asked, "How do you feel?"

Roxanne turned back. "Much better. Thank you, Mr. Farwell." She felt stronger than the day before.

Lucian nodded. Knowing she preferred minimal conversation, he simply relayed Sonny's instructions before leaving with Estella. After ensuring Roxanne's recovery, Estella obediently returned home with her father.
