Leaving the Country After Divorce - Chapter 250

At the Farwell residence, Lucian frowned at a WhatsApp group message after bringing Estella home. On the way, Estella had looked as if she wanted to say something. Lucian guessed it concerned the tree-planting activity.

During dinner, Lucian asked, "Is the kindergarten organizing a tree-planting activity?"

Estella nodded excitedly. She'd wanted to mention it in the car, but remembering Lucian's usual reluctance to attend school events, she'd been unsure how to suggest it. Lucian grimaced at her hopeful expression. He understood her change in behavior.

This wasn't the kindergarten's first parent-child event. Previously, Lucian's heavy workload, Estella's autism, and her unwillingness to interact with other children had led him to avoid them. However, perhaps influenced by Archie and Benny, Estella was now interested.

As he pondered Archie and Benny's influence, Estella's voice piped up, "I want to go." She looked at him expectantly. She hadn't seen Roxanne in a while and believed Roxanne would be there with Archie and Benny.

Lucian was astonished. Since Roxanne started avoiding him, Estella had remained silent about her. This was an exception.

"Do you really want to go that badly?" Lucian asked, furrowing his brow.

She nodded firmly. He hesitated, then said in a hoarse voice, "Let's go next time, okay? I have to work this weekend, so I can't accompany you." Estella's eyes dimmed. She shook her head; she couldn't wait to see Roxanne.

Lucian tried again, "Archie and Benny aren't going anywhere. They'll be at the next activity. You can play with them then."

"No!" Estella refused, pouting.

Lucian's head ached. Estella had usually avoided these activities, and he'd considered them a waste of time. They'd always agreed on that. Her determination surprised him. She clenched her fists and stared intently, hoping he'd change his mind. He remained silent. Tears welled in her eyes. She lowered her head and muttered, "Ms. Jarvis" She longed to see Roxanne.

Lucian's face darkened. He'd been so busy he hadn't considered Roxanne's participation. However, given Roxanne was avoiding him, he doubted she'd bring Archie and Benny. He suspected she might even prevent them from going.

His phone lit up. Pippa's message in the WhatsApp group read: "No guardian has contacted me privately, so I assume everyone will be coming. This activity will enhance the bond between children and their parents. I wish everyone a great time in advance."

The screen dimmed. Lucian's resolve wavered. He patted Estella's head and said, "I got it."
