Chapter 2039: Darling Got More Capable
Roxanne sneered at the word "extort." "The technical personnel and I spent countless days and nights, foregoing food and sleep, to achieve these results. What does she mean I'm trying to extort her?"
Even disappointed by Orchid's reaction, Roxanne found it unsurprising. “Orchid, please consider this; it's the best option. I won't back down, even if you ask Mr. Lambert for advice.” Roxanne calmly continued drinking her coffee.
“Listen, Roxanne! I'll never agree! If you insist, go ahead. If we follow procedure, all of you will leave the research institute eventually!” Orchid's tone was vicious, hoping to sway Roxanne.
Roxanne remained calm and unperturbed. This only fueled Orchid's anger and eroded her rationality.
Just then, Lucian called from outside, “Darling, I’m back!” Orchid seethed, envious of Lucian's tenderness toward Roxanne.
Lucian entered, his gaze shifting between the frustrated Orchid and the composed Roxanne, sensing the failed negotiation. He smiled at Roxanne. "I've dealt with everything."
Roxanne understood. She said to Orchid, "Orchid, you're right. If we follow procedure, the research institute belongs to GK Group. I've reconsidered. I'll hand it over."
Orchid thought she was hallucinating. "What tricks are up your sleeve?" she asked warily.
A smirk touched Roxanne's lips. "Tricks? You're the master. You always plant a whole team unexpectedly! If Old Mr. Lomax and the others cooperated, you would have those patented formulas!" Lucian had secured everything.
“You tried to convince me to hand over the institute, and now that I'm doing it, you hesitate?”
Orchid hesitated, then nodded. “All right! I was waiting for you to say yes. I don't believe you can outmaneuver me!”
Afterward, Roxanne and Lucian strolled from the office. Colby waited at the entrance. "As instructed, I've temporarily transferred the nine patented formulas to a company Mr. Farwell arranged. The seal is with me. Should I return it?"
Roxanne felt relieved. By negotiating with Orchid, she'd bought Lucian and Colby time to transfer the patents. She knew she had nothing substantive to negotiate with the avaricious Orchid.
“Returning the seal and the institute is inconsequential; we can replace the equipment. Colby, tell Old Mr. Lomax to cooperate with Orchid, receive his benefits, then resign and join Flora Verba Group’s research institute.”
Colby nodded and left. Lucian smiled, admiring Roxanne's decisiveness.
"Your business skills are improving, Darling!" Lucian affectionately caressed her head.
Roxanne smiled. "Of course! I've been learning."
