Chapter 1993: Find the Wish Bottle

A spacious square greeted them after driving near Elmling Park. The moon shone brightly, the stars sparsely scattered across the night sky. Couples and small families strolled through the square, making it an ideal date spot.

Jonathan seemed prepared, pulling a waterproof mat and snacks from the car before finding a less crowded area. He began setting up their impromptu picnic. A sweet, romantic feeling filled Madilyn's heart. "It would be lovely if we could set up a tent here and watch the moon and stars before we fall asleep," she murmured.

"I have a tent, but..." Jonathan replied, his words leaving Madilyn flustered and blushing. The darkness concealed her crimson cheeks, but she was unprepared for a night alone with him in a tent. While her thoughts raced, Jonathan continued preparing their area, boiling water for their coffee.

To change the subject, Madilyn said, "I've noticed your preferences are starting to resemble Mr. Farwell's."

"I suppose so," Jonathan responded, his tone nonchalant yet imbued with a philosophical undercurrent. "I used to drink coffee for the taste, but now, I drink it to improve my mood. Of course, I'm not like Lucian; I don't try every kind of high-quality coffee. I stick to plain coffee."

His demeanor captivated Madilyn. Gazing at his faintly moonlit profile, her heart quickened. He's so handsome! she thought.

Finally, Jonathan finished setting up. "Have a seat. The sky tonight is gorgeous, isn't it?"

"Yep, it is," Madilyn replied, feeling a wave of youthful nostalgia wash over her. She hadn't felt such peace and tranquility while admiring the moon and landscape in a long time. Gradually, she relaxed and enjoyed the moment.

They chatted over coffee and snacks, sharing memories. Though Madilyn couldn't clearly see Jonathan's expression in the darkness, she sensed a shift; he seemed less aloof and distant. The change in his demeanor, signifying his progress past his troubled past, filled her with joy. A light touch of fingers when he handed her coffee sent a flutter through her heart.

Suddenly, Jonathan said, "By the way, I remember something interesting. Back in high school, I came here with friends. This square didn't exist then. We buried wish bottles on a nearby slope. I wonder if they're still there."

"Really? I'm curious about your wishes! Where is it? Can we find them?" Madilyn asked excitedly.

"Come on, let's dig them up! Maybe they're still there," Jonathan said, smiling as he rose and offered her his hand. He hesitated, realizing the gesture might be forward, but before he could retract it, Madilyn took his hand.

Slightly startled, Jonathan smiled and helped her up. They headed toward the slope. After carefully gauging the distance, he stopped at an inconspicuous spot, clearing weeds and digging. The bottles were buried surprisingly deep; he dug about thirty centimeters before hitting something hard.

"I found it! It's still here! Let's look around; there were four of us, so we buried several," Jonathan exclaimed excitedly.

It was like a treasure hunt. Equally excited, Madilyn joined in, clearing weeds and soil with her bare hands.
