Chapter 1960: Foolish
Roxanne knew she was losing control, that her actions risked arrest. However, she didn't care. Years of resentment could only be released through these slaps. Yuliana lay dazed after the second.
Hotel security, noticing the disturbance, approached. Just then, a bystander exclaimed, โIsnโt that Roxanne, the Farwell heiress?โ
โYes! I canโt believe itโs her! I never expected such aggression!โ
โHey, stop filming! There must be a reason. I bet that womanโs evil.โ
After hushed whispers, security exchanged glances, quickly trying to shield the onlookers. They kept their distance; the bodyguards' hostility was intimidating.
โPlease calm down, Mrs. Farwell,โ urged the security head. โThere are many people here; this could affect your reputation.โ
Though slightly calmed, Roxanneโs cold gaze remained fixed on Yuliana. Years of bullying and humiliation flashed through her mind: Yuliana's verbal abuse of her mother, calling her unworthy and inferior to Winnie; the curses when her mother fell ill; the slashed clothes and burned years of notes; the malicious miscarriage rumors that alienated her classmates; and finally, the disposal of her mother's belongings after her death. Roxanne had been powerless then, forced to suppress her hatred because of Grant's bias towards Yuliana, Winnie's complicity, and Yosef's violence. Her entire family was unconscionable.
Yuliana, gnashing her teeth, struggled to rise but hesitated to act rashly. Instead, she reached for her phone, seeking help. David Ramos, her husband, was expected soon.
Roxanne waited calmly, curious about Yuliana's "honey" after witnessing her unconvincing distress. Unexpectedly, Lucian arrived before David. Linda, sensing Roxanneโs anger, had alerted him, knowing Yulianaโs capacity for trouble.
Seeing the hatred in Roxanne's eyes, Lucian went to her, taking her hand. โAre you all right?โ he asked gently, checking for injuries.
Roxanne shook her head. โLucian, this is my wonderful stepsister, Yuliana.โ
Lucianโs eyes narrowed. The name ignited his fury. Yuliana trembled; sheโd never faced such an intimidating glare.
โSo, youโre the one who bullied Roxanne for years?โ he asked, his tone accusatory.
Terror struck Yuliana. Returning to Horington and challenging Roxanne had been utterly foolish.
