Chapter 1894: Next Lifetime

โ€œLucian, can I meet with Roxanne? I want to apologize sincerely. If I don't do it today, I might never have the chance again.โ€ Elektra voiced her thoughts, her impending death prompting a reckoning with her lingering guilt and regrets. She felt she must face Roxanne one last time. She had, after all, lost to her in every conceivable way.

Lucian, after a moment's hesitation, nodded. He contacted Roxanne, relaying Elektra's plan to end her life by jumping from a building and her wish to see Roxanne one last time.

Roxanne, in her office at the research institute, was stunned. She questioned whether her husband was joking. The third phase of their product had yielded significant profits, the Flora Verba Group's future undeniably bright. Why would Elektra, the CEO, choose to end her life? Roxanne, not heartless, concluded Elektra's love life must be the reason. It was odd, though, that she would attempt suicide and that Lucian was with her.

Roxanne intended to drive herself, but Lucian called again immediately. โ€œLet Linda drive you. I need to brief you en route.โ€

She agreed. As Linda drove, Roxanne listened to Lucian's account of Christina's machinations. A chill ran down her spine. Beneath the seemingly joyous three-day period, sinister plots and thrilling rescues had unfolded. She realized the extent of the danger. Without Lucian's vigilance and decisive action, Flora Verba Group and the research institute would have been ruined. Roxanne knew that, at worst, she might not escape unscathed, potentially facing imprisonment.

Her wedding was a week away. Elektra had deliberately planned to send her to jail before the ceremony. This realization steadied Roxanne, a forbidding aura emanating from her. Was Elektra truly suicidal, or was this a ploy for sympathy, a means to escape her predicament?

Roxanne's pity vanished. Elektra was clearly trying to manipulate her into a desperate situation. What would happen to her three children if she were imprisoned?

Arriving at the office building, Roxanne looked up at the top. Elektra, waiting, sat with her legs dangling over the edge, seemingly unafraid and resigned to her fate.

Poker-faced, Roxanne walked casually toward the entrance, determined to see what Elektra planned. Her mind was blank, yet strange thoughts surfaced. Was there an afterlife? Did people truly forget everything? But she didn't want to forget Lucian. If reborn, could she wish for Lucian to love her in her next life?

Elektra turned, regarding Lucian with a yearning gaze. He had been silent since speaking with Roxanne, tapping on his phone. The elevator carrying Roxanne finally arrived, the ding echoing on the top floor. A dozen more steps, and she would reach the rooftop.
