Chapter 1685: Where Is the Thing I Want?
Lucian's warning had served its purpose. Facing Elektra, Jack displayed considerably more discipline than before.
Elektra greeted him graciously, smiling. "Nice to meet you, Mr. Damaris. I've heard much about you."
Jack rose, extending his hand. "You're beautiful, Ms. Lane. You complement Mr. Farwell so well. Your backgrounds are quite similar; you're a perfect match! I doubt you'll invite me to your wedding, so consider this my blessing!" He then shifted his gaze, filled with sarcasm, to Lucian. "You have such a desirable woman, Mr. Farwell. Why obsess over Ms. Jarvis? Things would be far simpler if you'd chosen Ms. Lane initially."
Lucian regarded him coldly. "I brought her here. Where is what I want?"
Jack chuckled. "Patience. What I want to show you isn't her."
An icy glint flashed in both men's eyes.
Lucian produced a marriage certificate impassively; Jack reached for it. However, Lucian, seemingly unnoticed by Jack, walked past him and placed the certificate on the coffee table.
Jack's face darkened as his outstretched hand fell empty. Yet, upon seeing Elektra, he instantly regained his composure, a hint of satisfaction playing on his lips. He's already lost!
He smirked, strolled to the table, and picked up the certificate. Seeing the photograph and official seal, his smirk widened.
"Tsk! A well-taken photo! Mr. and Mrs. Farwell are quite photogenic!" He shook his head regretfully. "Though, this is a marriage certificate. Why aren't you smiling? Outsiders might think you were forced into this!"
Lucian and Elektra's expressions soured at the use of "Mrs. Farwell." Elektra looked to Lucian expectantly.
Surprisingly, Lucian remained calm, his face impassive as he fixed Jack with his gaze. "Mr. Damaris, isn't the certificate what you want? Nothing else truly matters. Only we will see this, anyway."
Unfazed by Jack's provocations, Lucian, growing bored, returned the certificate to Elektra, who secured it.
"You've seen it, Mr. Damaris. Now give me what I want," Lucian stated grimly.
Jack calmly opened a drawer and produced a small glass bottle containing a clear, colorless liquidโresembling a skincare serum.
"Here."
He offered it. He was about to display his medical expertise, but Lucian snatched the bottle before he could.
Lucian's brow furrowed as he examined the liquid. Lacking medical knowledge, he couldn't determine if it was the antidote.
"Since you complied, Mr. Farwell, rest assured. I keep my word. That's the antidote for Ms. Jarvis. She'll regain consciousness once you administer it." A flicker of displeasure crossed Jack's face, quickly masked. "Ms. Jarvis is my business partner. I have no reason to harm her."
Without reply, Lucian gave Jack an unreadable look, then took Elektra's hand and left.
