Chapter 1300
Cory, preoccupied with thoughts of money, had no idea what Aubree was thinking. He continued sending threatening messages. Suddenly, Aubree replied, "Okay. How much do you want? I'll give you anything."
Cory's lips curled in satisfaction. "You should have said that earlier. We've been working for a while now. Why did we have to fight for so long?"
Aubree impatiently retorted, "Cut the nonsense. How much?"
Cory deliberated before messaging, "Fifty million. I'm sure this is an amount you can afford, Ms. Pearson." His debt totaled twenty million; he planned to gamble the remaining thirty million, hoping to recover his losses. If that failed, he still had the photos. He considered his plan perfect.
Aubree, enraged at the sum, thought, Fifty million? He might as well demand the entire Pearson Group! Does he think I can conjure fifty million with a snap of my fingers? The amount solidified her resolve to kill him.
She messaged, "Where are you? I'm coming to meet you for the exchange. You must delete the photos while I watch!"
Cory sent her an address: "Eleven in the morning tomorrow. I'll be waiting." He then skillfully removed the SIM card from his phone, tossed it into the sea, and walked away.
Meanwhile, Gina had unlocked Aubree's room. Rushing in, she asked, "What happened, Aubree? What was that earlier?" She noticed the shattered screen on Aubree's phone, a clear sign of Aubree's anger.
"Did someone say something to you?" Gina asked, concerned.
Aubree, livid, snapped, "Nothing! I'm furious, so leave me alone!"
Startled by her daughter's outburst, Gina paused, then attempted to continue her concerns. Aubree pushed her away and headed for the door. "Since I'm meeting him tomorrow, I'll need capable men to ensure Cory doesn't escape."
"Aubree, where are you going?" Gina worried, seeing her daughter leave without eating. Aubree ignored her and left the mansion.
The next morning, Cory waited at the abandoned factory where they'd previously met. At eleven o'clock, footsteps echoed. He peeked around the corner; Aubree stood alone at the entrance, a bank card in hand, looking for him.
"Cory? Where are you? I need to see you delete those photos!"
Just as Cory was about to reply, he spotted someone behind Aubree, partially hidden behind a pillar, holding a gun. Then he saw moreโdozens of people.
As Aubree advanced, they closed in. Cory sneered. "Ms. Pearson, how dare you resort to such tactics? Have you forgotten what I do?"
He sprinted to a second-story window and leaped out. Shouts of "Over there! Get him!" filled the factory. Cory calmly started his car and sped away, escaping before Aubree's men could react.
