Chapter 1297
Getting soaked was unexpected, but even disheveled, with hair plastered to her face, Roxanne remained remarkably beautiful.
โOn!โ
A wave caught Roxanne off guard. She regained her composure to find the shells sheโd gathered swept away; the one sheโd particularly wanted was gone. She felt a mixture of amusement and helplessness. It had been a while since her last beach visit, and now this.
Lucian heard her gasp, placing her near the sea. He approached, asking, โAre you okay?โ
Roxanne wiped seawater from her face, shaking her head with a remorseful sigh. โIโm okay, but my shells are gone.โ
Her drenched clothes clung to her body, revealing her curves as she moved. Lucian stared, feeling a surge of arousalโheโd been celibate for six years. Yet, his concern for her outweighed his desire. In a low voice, he said, โLetโs go back. We can come another day.โ He worried sheโd catch cold.
Roxanne understood his concern. Disappointed, she nodded and walked toward the shore.
โBe careful!โ
Lucianโs brow furrowed as he hurried to her. Roxanne heard the waves crashing, quickening her pace. Her foot caught on a hidden rock; she slipped and fell backward. A wave rolled over her, nearly submerging her.
The unexpected force of the waves threatened to engulf her. She struggled desperately to stay afloat, flailing her arms and legs.
Just as she felt she might suffocate, strong arms grasped her hand, pulling her from the ocean.
Roxanne spat out seawater, panting heavily. Lucianโs anxious gaze, unlike anything sheโd seen before, held hers. After her near-drowning, he couldn't bear to see her in danger.
Regaining her composure, remorseful for her carelessness, she began, โIโm sorry Iโโ But her words were cut short.
Lucian's passionate kiss was almost consuming. He released her hand, then encircled her waist, pulling her closer. Roxanne was stunned, her eyes wide.
Sensing her surprise, Lucian deepened the kiss, forcing her mouth open. Roxanne understood then. Her eyelashes fluttered as she closed her eyes and wrapped her arms around his neck.
Lost in the passionate embrace amidst the crashing waves, they ignored any potential interruption. In the distance, a camera briefly appeared amongst the bushes, snapping several pictures before disappearing.
Short of breath, Roxanne pushed him twice, signaling for him to stop. Lucian reluctantly released her, breathing heavily, his eyes flushed with barely contained desire.
โIโm sorry. You mustโve been worried,โ Roxanne said softly, avoiding his gaze.
