Chapter 1148

The office atmosphere tightened. A knock sounded, and the kindergarten headmaster entered, chuckling. "Mr. Farwell," he greeted Lucian, "why didn't you tell me you were coming? I would have welcomed you myself!"

He'd rushed over upon hearing of Lucian's arrival. His daughter attended the kindergarten; securing Farwell Group's investment was crucial for elevating their institution's standing in Horington. Expecting to curry favor, he was unprepared for the confrontation. He quickly deduced something had happened to the Farwell child. His smile faltered.

"What's the matter? Did Pam do something wrong?"

Before Lucian could respond, the headmaster turned on Pamela. "What's wrong with you? You have so few children in your class, yet you can't manage them?"

Pamela's heart sank. "Sir, Mr. Leishman's child was crying. Their family is a major investor; I couldn't ignore her. I only checked on her briefly. I never anticipated the other children bullying her."

The Leishman family was the kindergarten's largest investor, and the headmaster had instructed her to watch their son closely. He looked stumped, then realized even Austin Leishman would defer to Lucian. Weighing the situation, he prioritized Lucian.

"Mr. Farwell, I understand. This is our responsibility," he apologized. "I'll make the children apologize to Estella and assign two more teachers to her class."

Roxanne frowned. "No need," she said. "I've already reprimanded them, and they apologized." Turning to Lucian, she added stiffly, "However, please prevent the children's parents from seeking me out." She'd disciplined the children as an adult; revealing her identity could cause problems.

The headmaster misunderstood, believing Roxanne was dissatisfied and hinting at a personal apology. He hesitated, unsure of Roxanne's relationship with Estella, but noticing the girl's reliance on her. Assuming closeness to the Farwell family, he said, "They won't bother you. I'll have their parents apologize to Mr. Farwell and Estella in person!"

Roxanne tensed, realizing his misinterpretation. She looked to Lucian for clarification, fearing the situation would escalate. Lucian, however, remained impassive, offering no correction.
