Chapter 1002: A Gaze Full of Respect

After what seemed like forever, Jack's voice finally rang out. "Why didn't you choose to go with Dr. Galloway?" He was taken aback by Roxanne's earlier reaction.

Roxanne hesitated before calmly replying, "Dr. Galloway and I interact frequently at work, so I'm trying to avoid private interactions to ensure our professional collaboration isn't affected."

Jack still didn't understand. "Are you saying we don't work together enough?"

Roxanne was caught off guard. After several seconds, she explained, "It's different. Our collaboration with the Damaris Group is temporary. Besides, we haven't interacted much during work."

Roxanne and Jack only met for business matters. In that project, the Damaris Group was more of an investor than a partner.

Jack nodded, finally understanding. Silence filled the car. Moments later, Jack glanced at her.

Sensing his gaze, Roxanne looked at him quizzically. "By the way, my family is organizing a medical consultation in two days. Would you be interested in joining us?"

A medical consultation… Roxanne immediately thought of the children at the orphanage. Helping them would make her happy. However, she hesitated, remembering a pressing project. A sense of guilt followed this hesitation.

As if reading her mind, Jack said, "The consultation targets children from orphanages and nursing homes. We'll be sending medical staff. And after your amazing performance last time, Grandpa asked me to share some of the Damaris family's medical knowledge with you."

He gave her a meaningful look. "I believe this was your original purpose for joining the consultation, right?"

In traditional medicine, no one surpassed the Damaris family. Jack's words were spot on. She met his gaze and admitted, "You're right. Please let me know the time and location."

Jack knew she wouldn't refuse. He simply smiled and nodded.

The remainder of the journey was spent discussing the consultation. Jack casually pointed out Roxanne's weaknesses and offered advice, while Roxanne listened intently. Her eyes sparkled with respect even after the car stopped.

Before that day, she believed they were equals, each proficient in different areas of medicine. She then realized the Damaris heir was far more exceptional, mastering all the family's medical knowledge.

"We're here," Jack said amusedly, noticing her daze.

Roxanne snapped back to reality. She smiled gratefully. "Thank you for your guidance, Mr. Damaris."

Jack returned the smile. "I'm just sharing the Damaris family's knowledge. Your mentor is Professor Lambert. We've taken different paths, but our medical achievements are comparable. My family's knowledge simply complements yours."

Roxanne, serious as ever, said, "Still, I have to thank you."
