Chapter 301
โLet me say this again, in case youโve allowed your mind to deceive you: You had a sexual relationship with Evie and me. Nothing more, nothing less.โ
Sinai was hurting, her body shaking. Tears filled her eyes.
โI admit I got possessive; thatโs why you had to end things thenโI admit it! But I can be better now. Letโs rekindle what we had.โ She stepped closer, desperate. โFine, I admit you belong to the human princess; I acknowledge that, alright? Emeriel is your Soulbond, Iโll accept that! But you can still be mine tooโฆ!โ
โYou are my bloodhost. Nothing else,โ he stated firmly.
โI know what happened two weeks ago,โ Sinaiโs words tumbled out. โIf you were with me, I would have handled you better than Emeriel did. I wouldnโt have screamed the way she did. Ravenshadow would never have known something was wrong!โ
Sinai lifted her chin, confident despite her tears. โI could take you that way. Iโm Urekai, Daemon, with my own beast. Iโm stronger than she is. I could have done betterโโ
โTen of you couldnโt do what half of her can,โ Daemonikai snapped, furious.
Sinai recoiled.
โTen of you will never be as strong,โ he repeated slowly, his eyes burning into hers. โYou will never be half the woman Emeriel is.โ
Punching through her heart. Her lungs.
Sinai struggled to breathe. โHow could youโฆ how could you say that to me?โ
Closing the distance, Daemonikai growled, deadly. โThe next time you dare compare yourself to her, I may truly snap your neck. Have some respect for mine.โ His gaze hardened. โAnd thatโs what she isโmine.โ
Sinaiโs lips parted, but no words came. The fist had stopped punching; instead, it dug into her wounds. Her tears flowed freely.
โWipe those off,โ he ordered curtly. โI do not care to see them.โ
With trembling hands, she swiped at her tears. How could he be so heartless to a female who had served him for millenniaโฆ?
Crossing his arms, his gaze bored into hers. โDonโt think I donโt know you used to delay my feedings when I was feral, to coerce Vladya into giving you the lands in Crystal Waters.โ
Blood drained from her face. How did he know that!?
โWโwhat? Thatโs not true! Who told you such ridiculous lies?โ
โYou did,โ Daemonikaiโs tone remained unchanged. โAfter I broke out of the forbidden chambers in bloodlust, killed our own people, and Vladya threatened to punish youโฆthat was when you came to feed me! You confessed it yourself.โ
โYou rememberโฆ?โ
โEverything. You really didnโt think I would regain consciousness, did you?โ
She averted her eyes, shame and guilt evident.
โNow, you dare stand before me to act like you have feelings for me?โ
Sinai sniffled. โI really doโโ
โIf it werenโt against the law, I would have you drained every few days and stored away, so I do not have to see your face. An almost good reason to wish for war.โ
She flinched. All this just so he wouldnโt feed from the source?
โNow, feed me.โ
โDaemonโฆ I didnโt meanโโ
โFeed me in the way of old,โ he commanded, his face impassive. โThe less time we have to do this in the future, the better.โ
Swiping at her tears, Sinai complied, undressing.
After the feeding, Sinai sat alone on the bed, her body humming with unfulfilled desire. He wouldnโt touch her aching nipples or throbbing clitoris. He wouldnโt even let her grind against his thigh to find release. Instead, he kept the feeding cold and impersonal.
Desperate, sheโd used her own hands to reach climax, but it didnโt feel like she had.
But that was okay.
Wiping her tears, Sinai glared at the closed door. Daemonikai needed her. No matter how much he pretended otherwise, he needed her. Always would.
Sinai smiled. He could never get rid of her.
As she rose and dressed languidly, she felt untouchable. Like the queen she was always meant to be.
She had just finished dressing when the door opened, and two soldiers marched in.
โWe were instructed to escort you back to your cell, Mistress,โ one of them said.
Just like that, the dreamy haze of bloodfeeding and orgasm disappeared.
โWhat?! No, no, you canโt mean that!โ She scrambled backward. โTell my master I need to speak with himโ!โ
The soldiers took her arms, their grips firm as they began to drag her from the room. She struggled violently, her bare feet sliding against the floor.
โDaemon!โ she screamed. โPlease! Donโt let them take me back there!โ
Two days later, in the earliest hours of dawn, Grand Lord Vladya stood outside the Grand Kingโs bedchamber, pausing at the door. Inside, Daemonikai stood still at the center of his vast chamber as his attendants dressed him in his full ceremonial attire.
Vladya observed quietly for a moment, noting the cold, distracted look in Daemonikaiโs eyes. It was the same distant expression heโd seen far too often recently. A sharpness that concealed something else. Vladyaโs gaze flicked to the crown on the polished table nearby, its gold and crimson gemstones gleaming in the faint morning light.
โSomeone has decided to wear his crown today, I see,โ Vladya said, stepping inside.
Daemonikai glanced at him briefly. His tone left no room for conversation. โA proper attire for a formal ceremony.โ
To his servants, he ordered, โYou may leave.โ
They quickly bowed and filed out without a word.
Vladya crossed the room, resuming the work the attendants had left unfinished, adjusting and tying the last of the ceremonial robes.
โYou look majestic, Your Grace,โ Vladya remarked lightly. โAnd tired.โ
Daemonikaiโs lips twitched faintly, not into a smile. โI havenโt been getting enough sleep.โ
โYou barely ever sleep enough but always manage to look refreshed,โ Vladya pointed out easily. โI think something is on your mind.โ
