Chapter 67: A Nighttime Video Call

North flipped off the car's occupants—Raven, Pamela, and Gwen, who were seated in the back—and drove away. Pamela and Gwen's expressions had changed dramatically.

After dropping Pamela and Gwen off, Raven arrived home and sat on the balcony. His phone buzzed with a message from Elvis: "Where did your sister take my Olive today?"

Elvis had received a debit alert from his card, which he’d given Olive. Knowing Olive’s pride, he was surprised she'd used it.

Raven replied, "Why don't you ask her yourself?"

Elvis responded, "Raven, she used my ATM card to buy things. If I ask her, she'll be embarrassed. What if she stops using the card?"

Raven initially wanted to put his phone away, but after reconsidering, he patiently replied, "I think I saw North and Olive buy a nightdress at the mall tonight. It should be your type of lingerie."

In his study at the Red Villa, Elvis reread Raven's message repeatedly. He stared at the documents on his desk, unable to focus. He stood up and went to find his grandmother.

"Grandma, do you miss Olive?" he asked.

Madam Samantha nodded. "Yes, it's been a whole day."

"Then let's video chat with her," Elvis suggested.

"Oh, okay. That'll be nice," she said happily.

Olive, having just showered and wearing the new silk nightdress, was drying her hair when her phone buzzed with an incoming video call. She missed the call. Then, Elvis messaged, "Grandma misses you and wants a video call." Olive had assumed it was Elvis wanting a video chat, hence ignoring the initial call.

Elvis called again; Olive answered, connecting her to Mrs. Samantha. The old woman's kind face quickly filled the screen.

"Ah, Olive, you're not wearing a mask today! Awwwn, my Olive is so beautiful, she looks like a doll!" Mrs. Samantha exclaimed.

Olive touched her face. She'd just showered and was drying her hair, so she wasn't wearing a mask. With only North in the apartment (Miss Erica having left), there was no need.

"Oh, Grandma, don't tease me," Olive murmured shyly.

"Grandma misses Olive. Does Olive miss Grandma?"

"Yes, Grandma, I miss you so much," Olive nodded. "But please, don't rush home for my sake. Come home when you feel better."

A warm feeling filled Olive's heart. Her grandmother was truly doting. Olive was touched, but Elvis watched his grandmother with a strange expression. He took the phone from her, wrapped his arms around her waist, pushed her out of the room, and closed the door.

Elvis stared at Olive, maskless. Her skin looked radiant. Olive, realizing his gaze, lowered her head.

"Where's Grandma?" she asked.

"Grandma just stepped out," Elvis replied, his gaze still fixed on her damp hair.

"If Grandma's gone, I'll hang up," Olive said, reaching for the end call button.

Elvis noticed her freshly manicured nails, a color he particularly liked. "You got a manicure," he said with a smile.
