Listen to this chapter:

Vince shook his head. โ€œNo way.โ€

Rowan smiled. โ€œShe really is that amazing. And I have to thank you for fumbling her not once, but twice.โ€ Rowan rolled his eyes at Brandon. โ€œIf it werenโ€™t for your stupidity in choosing Shannon over there, I would have never found my queen. My Goddess-blessed mate.โ€ He pulled his shirt completely off, revealing the mate mark. โ€œEverythingโ€™s in place for her to take over in my stead.โ€

โ€œYou know I will just kill her, right?โ€ Garith smiled.

Rowan threw his head back and laughed so hard he started to cough. Garithโ€™s face grew dark. โ€œYou can try.โ€ Rowan held up his hands. โ€œBut she is stronger than you think she is.โ€

Garith smiled. โ€œItโ€™s fine, I can get my sonโ€”โ€

โ€œThe one in the caves with Aurora?โ€ Rowan lifted a brow. โ€œYeahโ€ฆdonโ€™t think he will be around for long. Sheโ€™s already dead, and he doesnโ€™t seem like he has a lot of survival skills. If you know what Iโ€™m saying.โ€

Garithโ€™s face paled. โ€œNo.โ€

โ€œI mean, Vince did say she wanted your servers.โ€ Rowan smiled.

Garith pulled out his phone and dialed a number. โ€œPick up.โ€ He turned and shouted to the crowd. โ€œGrab them.โ€

Everyone converged on the front. A few females wove in between the men as Garith tried to dial again. Lynn grinned. โ€œNo answer?โ€

Garith growled low. โ€œI will kill you if he is hurt.โ€

Lynn snapped her fangs. โ€œIโ€™m already dead, remember.โ€ She cackled as he dialed one more time.

Finally, the call connected. There were screams in the distance. โ€œDad?โ€ Garrenโ€™s voice rang out of the speaker.

Garithโ€™s hand tightened on the phone. โ€œGarren, what is going on?โ€

โ€œThe cavesโ€ฆthe caves are under attack.โ€ There was a howl, and Garrenโ€™s voice hardened. โ€œAurora is dead. A tracker killed her the other day. I was able to get some out, but a lot of the exits were covered by other packs.โ€

Garith turned to face Rowan, who was smiling. โ€œDid I forget to say that?โ€

โ€œGarren, listen to me. Leave the rogues. Just get yourself out.โ€

โ€œDad, you know I canโ€™t do that. Iโ€™m their Alpha.โ€ Garrenโ€™s voice sounded flat.

โ€œYes, you can. Do what I say, boy.โ€

There was a pause on the other end before Garrenโ€™s voice came back. โ€œFine. But Iโ€™m saving as many as I can.โ€ Then the phone disconnected.

Garith stared down at his phone for a second before he threw it against one of the pillars, shattering it into a million pieces. He whirled back to face Rowan, who was smiling. โ€œIโ€™m going to kill you.โ€

โ€œYou can try.โ€ Rowan pushed up from the pew and rocked back and forth on his feet.

Garith smiled. โ€œYou think this is going to be a challenge?โ€ He tossed his head and laughed. โ€œYou are stupid, just like your father.โ€ He looked around at the crowd. โ€œGrab him.โ€

A few guards and one female grabbed Rowan, holding his arms behind his back as Garith stepped closer. โ€œIโ€™m going to have them hold you down as I cut your heart from your chest.โ€

Brandonโ€™s face furrowed in confusion. โ€œWhy not just use your Alpha command or magic?โ€

Verity rolled her eyes. โ€œThey wonโ€™t work. Commands and magic will only go so far, but if a wolf feels like it is in danger, then it will break free and fight for its life.โ€

Brandon pointed at Derek. โ€œObviously not, Derek was stuck in place as that fucking whore sliced into him.โ€

Verity sighed. โ€œNo, your beta is just a dumbass.โ€ Verity kicked at Derekโ€™s hand. Brandon growled, but she rolled her eyes. โ€œHis wolf was just as delusional as he was. They had convinced themselves that they werenโ€™t in danger because he didnโ€™t see females as a danger. He could have gotten up at any time. But he stayed there because he thought he was going to heal. He was stupid.โ€

Brandon stared down at his best friendโ€™s body. โ€œHe could have gotten up?โ€

Garith chuffed out a chuckle. โ€œIt wouldnโ€™t have mattered anyway, boy. He was gone as soon as the second blade went in. After the silver was that close to the heart, it wouldnโ€™t have mattered. He was already dead; his body just had to catch up.โ€ He turned to me and waved me closer. I walked up beside him and held out the toolkit. โ€œNow, back to the important bit.โ€ He grabbed another knife. โ€œYou are such a good girl.โ€ I smiled softly.

โ€œThank you.โ€ I slipped a knife out of this kit as he turned his back to me. I watched as he stepped closer to my mate. โ€œI try my best, Alpha.โ€

โ€œIf only my family members were this useful.โ€ He trailed a knife over Rowanโ€™s face. โ€œNowโ€ฆI think itโ€™s about time.โ€

โ€œWellโ€ฆโ€ I smiled softly. โ€œYouโ€™re in luck.โ€ Garith froze for a second.

โ€œWhat?โ€ He looked at me as the mask I untied fell from my eyes.

โ€œI said youโ€™re in luckโ€ฆGrandpa.โ€ I turned and slit one of the guards' throats.
