Chapter 61: Revenge on Your Ex-Husband Together
The nickname "Fairy" was quite fitting for Jerome. He was extremely handsome, with downturned eyes and a high-bridged nose. His full lips were as captivating as glossy red silk.
Cheyenne slightly furrowed her brows and said, "Stay away from me."
Jerome doubted his charm had waned. He subconsciously touched his cheek, leaned close to her ear, and whispered, "You're unique. I like it."
Their faces were less than a fist's length apart. His warm breath brushed her face. To his surprise, she wore no makeup. Her skin was flawless, naturally fair and radiant, needing only lipstick. She was naturally beautiful and graceful.
Unseen, a man observed from the second floor. Tall and elegant in a black suit, he stood like a pine tree. His white shirt, buttoned to the neck, revealed only a sliver of throat. His cold, handsome face was almost godlike.
From Kelvin's vantage point, it appeared Jerome was holding and kissing Cheyenne. Their foreheads touched, his lips pressed against her cheek, yet she remained motionless.
"Cheyenne, you're really something!"
Chris, following Kelvin, sensed a shift in the atmosphere. Kelvin, moments before calmly discussing quarterly guidance, had become intensely cold. The temperature seemed to drop drastically. Goosebumps prickled Chris's arms.
"Mr. Foley," Chris asked softly, "is there anything else that needs improvement?"
Kelvin's gaze swept over Cheyenne before returning to its usual coldness. "Order them to withdraw our company's spokesperson!"
"What?" Chris exclaimed.
Jerome, a rising star with a massive fan base and a handsome "vampire" look, had been chosen as spokesperson after a lengthy selection process. As Foley Group vice president, he commanded a two-hundred-million-dollar annual endorsement fee. Revoking his endorsement could backfire spectacularly, especially so close to a new product launch.
Kelvin disliked hearing "no." He turned abruptly, his gaze as cold as winter, fixing Chris with an icy stare. Sweat beaded on Chris's temple.
"Yes, sir. I'll take care of it immediately," Chris stammered.
Meanwhile, Jerome, mid-concert, was interrupted by his agent whispering urgently. His smile vanished. He slammed his guitar to the ground in anger.
"Why did they revoke my endorsement?" he yelled.
His agent, startled by his fury, tried to calm him.
"Calm down? How can I calm down? I flew from Onistead for this concert and stayed up all night practicing!"
He threw down his guitar and stormed off. The audience was stunned.
"Jerome, don't go!" they cried.
His manager apologized, explaining a "contractual issue" forced the concert's premature end.
Cheyenne and Kate exchanged confused glances. Some fans blamed Cheyenne.
"It must be because of that woman! Jerome wouldn't quit halfway!"
"Yeah! Who does she think she is rejecting Jerome?"
Cheyenne, wide-eyed, defended herself. "It's because of contractual reasons! What does it have to do with me?"
An arrogant, well-dressed teenage girl countered, "I asked backstage. Mr. Foley gave the order!"
Kelvin's order. Cheyenne understood his dislike for such idols.
"Then go to the CEO! Why bother me? Do you think I'm easy to bully?" Her words spurred the fans to confront the Foley Group.
Cheyenne thought it was over, but Jerome appeared, grabbing her wrist.
"Are you Cheyenne?" he asked in a low voice.
"Let go! What are you doing?" she demanded.
Kate watched in shock as Jerome dragged Cheyenne into an elevator.
"What do you want? Do you even know me?" Cheyenne asked, rubbing her wrist.
Jerome smirked. "Let's get revenge on your ex-husband together. How about I chase after you now?"
A sudden punch landed on Jerome's face. He groaned, "You you hit me too hard."
