Chapter 38: She is Sean's Sister

On a soft, luxurious white bed, a young girl slept soundly in her white nightgown. Sunlight spilled onto her fair, delicate face, highlighting her cherry-red lips.

Suddenly, a ringing phone woke her. The groggy girl reached out from under the covers with one slender arm and elegantly rubbed her pillow before answering.

It was Kate, and Cheyenne heard high-pitched screams from the other end even before she put the phone on speakerphone. “Cheyenne! Something terrible has happened!”

The piercing voice nearly shattered Cheyenne's eardrums. She quickly turned off speakerphone and sat up to look at Kate's face on the screen. “What happened? Why are you calling so early?”

As she spoke, Cheyenne half-sat up, beautiful wavy curls cascading lazily down her shoulders onto creamy skin. She was as delicate as a Barbie doll, every strand of hair seemingly perfectly arranged. But Kate knew better than anyone that Cheyenne had a terrible sleeping position and was lucky to even get out of bed without looking like a chicken coop.

“What do you mean early? It’s almost ten o’clock; aren’t you awake yet?” Kate asked.

“Uh… well, the thing is, can you come to the hospital? Reece got hurt, and he’s staying there,” came the reply.

Reece got hurt? Cheyenne immediately snapped out of her daze and jumped out of bed onto the plush white carpet. “How bad is it? Is he okay?” Before Kate could answer, Cheyenne heard Reece’s screams on the other end of the line. “Cheyenne! Help me! I’m in so much pain!”

“I’ll die from this pain!” he continued.

“Cheyenne, hurry up! And don’t forget to buy me half a roast turkey on your way here. I’m starving too!”

Kate wanted nothing more than to throw her phone at his head. What an idiot!

“You’re still thinking about eating roast turkey when you’re injured?” Cheyenne said, feeling speechless. “Judging by your voice, you sound fine. I don’t think your injuries are that serious,” she added.

Reece licked his lips and smiled flatteringly. “Who says they’re not serious? I’m really hurt. Come on, Cheyenne, can’t you buy me some roast turkey?”

“Go to the shop near our high school. Remember not to add too much pepper.”

In the end, Cheyenne agreed to Reece’s request, since he was a patient. After hanging up, Kate sent her location. After a quick wash-up, Cheyenne changed into a small tank top, a white mini-skirt, and a long blue shirt.

Malaya curiously approached her as she admired her outfit. “Are you going out today?”

“Yes, Malaya, you don’t have to wait for me for lunch today.” With that, Cheyenne put on her sunglasses and looked stunningly cool.

“Huh?” Malaya was clearly surprised.

Cheyenne stopped at the door and softly asked, “Malaya, is there something you want?”

Malaya had planned lunch with her sister, brother-in-law, and nephew, Emmanuel. She wanted to introduce him to Cheyenne, but Cheyenne was leaving. She couldn’t tell Cheyenne her plans directly, only sighing silently, intending to introduce them another day.

“Well, no, just go ahead. Don’t stay out too late.”

Staring at Malaya’s somewhat disdainful expression, Cheyenne’s eyes twinkled, and she went out with a smile.

In her pink Lamborghini, with sunglasses covering half her face, revealing only her delicate nose and cherry-red lips, she attracted attention. Some passersby even whistled. With a step on the accelerator, her car whirled out of sight.

Cheyenne drove toward the shop near Akloit High School, where she and Reece had graduated three years ago. The area had changed significantly, but the snack shop remained unchanged. Usually, the customers were students. When Cheyenne, with her delicate features, arrived in her luxury car, she caught many students’ attention. When she took off her sunglasses, there were gasps of surprise.

“She… she looks like she’s only sixteen or seventeen years old. She must be so rich!” exclaimed a girl in a school uniform.

Sitting across from her was another girl in a blue blazer and plaid skirt, her long hair cascading down her shoulders. With an oval face and almond-shaped eyes, she looked quiet and cute.

Mikaela Buck glanced at Cheyenne and, suddenly thinking of something, lowered her head slightly. She whispered to her companion, “She’s Sean’s sister.”

“What?”

The other girl was so surprised her jaw dropped. Sean was a year older than them, already eighteen. They’d heard his sister had just divorced… but the woman before them didn’t look like an abandoned wife at all. Her skin was even more fair and smooth than theirs; no one would suspect she was still in high school!

“Yes, it’s definitely her,” Mikaela warned, sipping bubble tea. “Sean said she isn’t a good person, always seducing men and having an unpleasant personality. Don’t mess with her.”

“Looks can be deceiving.”

Feeling the gaze of the two girls, Cheyenne paid for her purchase and looked around. Her eyes landed on the nervous, guilty girls in the corner. Cheyenne noted their appearances but had other things to attend to and didn’t want to bother with them.

As she walked away, a black figure caught her attention by the roadside. It was Kelvin, holding a suit jacket, standing in the hot sun. His handsome face glistened with sweat, his piercing eyes shining brighter than usual. He had forgotten his phone and didn’t usually carry cash. After getting into a cab, he realized he had no money and was kicked out halfway by the driver. Kelvin continued walking in embarrassment.
