Chapter 199: Upon returning to the Lloyd mansion, they immediately attended to Lorna. Floyd, overseeing the process, emerged from the room after completing the initial session. With a nod and a smile for Jim, he announced, "The first treatments are done."

Casually stretching, Floyd turned to Allison. "Ontdale is much livelier than I imagined. However, I don't know anyone here and have no idea where to stay. Considering how well we know each other, could I trouble you to put me up for a bit?"

Allison declined without hesitation. "It doesn't quite fit into my plans. I can help you find somewhere, though."

"Are you really turning me down?" Floyd teased, leaning closer. "You used to say we shouldn't lose touch during the good times. Have you forgotten the days we shared a rental? Now you think you're too good to live with me?"

"It's not like that," Allison replied. "I just worry that my unpredictable schedule might throw you offโ€ฆ"

Kellan interrupted. "No need for the hassle. You've come all this way to treat my niece. How could I possibly let you go without proper accommodations? You can stay in the villa by the western garden. It's quiet, there's plenty of room for your equipment, and it's next to our private doctor'sโ€”ideal for exchanging ideas."

Floyd opened his mouth to argue, but Kellan added smoothly, "Rest easy knowing our family will ensure you have suitable lodgings." Floyd smiled. "Since Mr. Lloyd is being so generous, it would be rude to refuse. However, Allison, considering we haven't crossed paths in ages, would you care to join me for dinner tonight? It's on me."

Before Allison could respond, Kellan invited her to learn his grandmother's perfume-blending techniques that evening. He offered a slightly apologetic glance at Floyd. "I hope you don't mind. My work keeps me on my toes."

"Well, I happen to be free tonight too," Floyd interjected, focusing Allison's attention. A subtle tension filled the room. Allison sensed something was amiss. Initially, she wanted to decline both offers, but recalling Kellan's earlier restrained breathing, she saw an opportunity.

Turning to Floyd, she said, "Perfume blending can wait. Let's have dinner first. It's been a long day, and I could really use a meal. But it shouldn't be on you. Since you're here, I insist it's my treat."

"Mr. Lloyd, why not join us?" Kellan replied, offering a forced smile, ignoring Floyd's puzzled expression. "Following the customs of our gracious host, a welcome dinner takes precedence. I'm feeling hungry too, so we should definitely go together."

Floyd was momentarily speechless, sensing the subtle undercurrent in Kellan's tone. He couldn't ignore that Allison had subtly prioritized his company over Kellan's. This wasn't just a formality; it was a message.
