“Mr. Maloney,” she quickly interjected, “I apologize for Leroy’s behavior and disrespect.”

Owen sneered. “Your apology means nothing. Mr. Lloyd has the final say.”

The thought of apologizing to Andrew tore at Christina, but Owen’s furious expression highlighted the risk of losing the orphanage deal. After a moment’s hesitation, she forced out, “I’m sorry, Mr. Lloyd.”

Andrew smirked. “Ms. Stevens, I never thought you’d actually bow to someone.”

Owen announced, “Ms. Stevens, Mr. Lloyd will oversee all future cooperation with Stevens Corporation. I hope you both work well together!” He then quickly departed.

Alone, Irene demanded, “Andrew, since when are you a Wealthroller Investments senior executive?”

Christina asked suspiciously, “Andrew, are you really that close to Mr. Yates?”

Andrew replied coldly, “Does my relationship with Mr. Yates matter to you, Ms. Stevens? Or are you regretting your actions now that you know?”

Christina shook her head firmly. “I never regret my decisions. However, you’ve changed since we separated, and your behavior remains childish and disrespectful.”

“I neither want nor need your approval,” Andrew said dismissively. “Let’s discuss business.”

Christina frowned. “Isn’t it ridiculous for Mr. Yates to put someone like you in charge of such a major project?”

“Wealthroller Investments has complete control over this project,” Andrew stated calmly. “I am your superior here. Is this how you address your boss, Ms. Stevens?”

Suppressing her frustration, Christina replied coldly, “I apologize for my rudeness, Mr. Lloyd. But let me remind you—borrowed power is temporary. Don’t let it go to your head.”

Andrew remained unfazed. “Why should I worry? With Mr. Yates and Ms. Rhodes backing me, life is comfortable.”
