Chapter 73

A chubby tycoon laughed, exclaiming, “I get it now! It’s like with men and women—even the most powerful man can be brought to his knees by a woman’s charm!”

Another man added, “Exactly! As they say, between a woman’s legs lies the path to paradise—apparently, the same applies to horses!”

Their remarks caused Christina, Lauren, and the other women to blush, while the rest of the crowd exchanged awkward glances. The comparison, though apt, felt somewhat inappropriate.

After a brief pause, Mark sighed. “Alright, I accept this defeat completely. Andrew Lloyd of Jayrodale General Hospital, I’ll remember you. You’re truly a remarkable young man!”

Andrew’s expression remained unchanged despite the praise, while Bernard and Harvey visibly displayed their displeasure. Harvey, in particular, glared at Andrew, resenting the attention he seemed to attract everywhere he went. He felt the praise should have been his alone.

Mark smiled at Lauren. “Lauren, it seems you have good taste after all!”

Lauren beamed. “Thank you, Mr. Thatcher!”

Christina felt a pang of jealousy, witnessing Lauren and Andrew’s closeness. She had been unconcerned when Andrew was unremarkable, but his earning Mark's praise made her uneasy.

“Well, I’ll leave you young folks to it. It’s been a long day, and I still have other things to attend to. Bye now,” Mark said, preparing to depart with his entourage.

“Mr. Thatcher, please wait!” Andrew called out.

Mark turned back, smiling. “Yes, Dr. Lloyd? Do you have more insights to share?”

Andrew shook his head. “Not exactly an insight, but a reminder. You’re suffering from a serious, potentially life-threatening condition. Without immediate treatment, I fear the worst.”

Mark’s face paled, staring at Andrew in shock and disbelief.

Bernard erupted in anger. “How dare you! Mr. Thatcher is in his prime. Are you cursing him?”

Harvey snarled, “Just because Mr. Thatcher praised you doesn’t mean you can overstep.”

Christina snapped, “Andrew, Mr. Thatcher has top medical professionals looking after him. Do you really think they need your unsolicited advice?”

Even Francesca and Lauren were startled by Andrew’s sudden statement.

Chapter 79

“Please don’t mind him, Mr. Thatcher,” Francesca quickly explained. “He tends to get carried away with a little success.”

Mark nodded thoughtfully. “He’s not wrong. I have been feeling unwell lately. However, Dr. Aicker and Dr. Hackett have already developed a perfect treatment plan, and I’m almost fully recovered!”

He then left, choosing not to dwell on Andrew’s remark.
