Chapter 695

Andrew let out a cold laugh. โ€œSo, Raymondโ€™s confidence comes from the Wright family?โ€

Stephen gave a firm nod. โ€œExactly. Without the familyโ€™s backing, Raymond wouldnโ€™t even be qualified to shine your shoes, let alone set up the ridiculous Reckoning Toast.โ€

Andrewโ€™s eyes glinted with curiosity. โ€œMr. Brunner, enlighten me, what exactly is that supposed to mean?โ€

Stephen straightened in his chair and explained, โ€œThe Reckoning Toast is an old tradition in certain circles. Itโ€™s essentially a public apology disguised as a show of respect.

โ€œIf two sides have a conflict but donโ€™t want an all-out war, or if one side wants to back down without losing face, theyโ€™ll arrange a Reckoning Toast. Youโ€™d pour a glass of wine, offer it to Raymond, and apologize while acknowledging his supposed grievance.โ€

He explained, โ€œIf he takes the glass and drinks, it means he accepts the apology, and the matter is settled. But if he refuses or smashes the glass, thatโ€™s a declaration of war. It means the conflict will only escalate from there.โ€

Andrewโ€™s lips curled into a faint, mocking smile. โ€œAnd what do you think I should do, Mr. Brunner? Should I humor him with a drink or just ignore the whole thing?โ€

Stephenโ€™s smile turned awkward. โ€œWellโ€ฆ given Raymondโ€™s ties to the Wright family, heโ€™s feeling pretty bold right now. If you want to avoid trouble and steer clear of a conflict with the capital, Iโ€™d suggest going to the Jayrodale Grand Hotel.โ€

Andrew arched a brow. โ€œSo, what youโ€™re really saying is that I should bow my head, offer him a drink, and let this slide?โ€

Stephenโ€™s face paled slightly as he shook his hands frantically. โ€œOf course not! Mr. Lloyd, youโ€™re leagues above that fool. He doesnโ€™t deserve a second of your time. But the Wright familyโ€™s influence runs deep, and itโ€™s never wise to provoke powerful forces without reason. I just donโ€™t want you to invite unnecessary trouble.โ€

Lauren, who had been quietly listening, scoffed. โ€œI donโ€™t care if Raymond has the Wright family behind him. Weโ€™re not going to apologize to that slimeball. Dream Paradise got trashed because of his sonโ€™s stupidity. He brought it on himself, and frankly, he deserved it.โ€

Stephen sighed, rubbing his temples. โ€œMs. Rhodes, I get what youโ€™re saying, and youโ€™re not wrong. But we still have to consider the bigger picture here. That spoiled brat from the Wright family โ€“ the one who spent months at Dream Paradise with a different girl every night โ€“ has already arrived in Jayrodale. As soon as he saw the damage, he went ballistic.โ€

Laurenโ€™s expression shifted, her brows knitting together. โ€œThat must be Winston Wright. Ugh, that useless parasite. So heโ€™s here in Jayrodale now?โ€

Andrew leaned back and exhaled slowly, completely unfazed. โ€œThe Wright family, Raymondโ€ฆ I honestly donโ€™t care. Theyโ€™re not worth my time.โ€

He shifted his gaze back to Stephen. โ€œAnyway, howโ€™s the production going with our joint project?โ€

Stephenโ€™s face lit up with relief at the change of topic. โ€œOh, everythingโ€™s going according to plan. We followed your formula and started production as instructed. But if I can be candid, Mr. Lloyd, I think we might be overproducing. This is a brand-new product, and flooding the market could backfire. If sales flop, weโ€™ll take a huge hit.โ€

Andrew smiled faintly. โ€œDonโ€™t worry. Itโ€™ll sell out. In fact, I wouldnโ€™t be surprised if we canโ€™t keep up with demand.โ€

Stephen hesitated but ultimately nodded. He had not known Andrew long, but he had seen enough to realize that this man was not someone you questioned without reason. In Jayrodaleโ€™s tangled web of power and influence, Andrew was already a force to be reckoned with.

โ€œAlright,โ€ Andrew said, standing and stretching his shoulders. โ€œThatโ€™s settled then. Lauren, letโ€™s go.โ€
