Chapter 58
Harvey smirked. "Andrew, I understand your frustration. You're upset because I plan to propose to Christie with the King of Diamonds. But in Jayrodale, I always get what I want."
He added condescendingly, "Even your unhappiness won't change that. Why not hand it over amicably? I might even let you profit handsomely from the deal."
Andrew laughed. "I initially thought the King of Diamonds was underutilized in my possession. I wouldn't have minded letting either of you have it. But I've changed my mind. It's completely off-limits."
He had no desire to waste energy on such fools, but he wasn't a pushover. Their arrogance demanded a response.
Harvey's smile vanished. "You're surprisingly confident! You clearly don't understand what I'm capable of. If it weren't for Christie, do you think I'd be speaking so politely?"
"So, Mr. Weller, are you threatening a humble doctor?" Andrew asked with amusement.
Harvey snorted. "Don't get ahead of yourself. You're merely Mr. Yates's lapdog. I know all about your so-called achievements. If I want that diamond, a phone call to Mr. Yates will suffice. Did you think you were someone important?"
"I may be nobody, but I'm not you, Mr. Weller," Andrew replied calmly. "And I'll repeat: even if your father himself asked, the King of Diamonds is not for sale!"
Harvey's face darkened. "Fine. We'll see about that!" He decided to delay dealing with this insignificant pest. First, he'd win Christie's heart; that would make the victory even sweeter.
Christie shook her head at Andrew. "Andrew, I don't understand why you're doing this! Remember when Harvey helped you with Dylan? Are you so insecure you can't bear to see others succeed?"
Andrew scoffed. "Christina, let's be clear: you're an arrogant fool."
Christina was speechless with anger. Andrew's coldness and rudeness since their breakup were a stark contrast to the gentle man she once knew.
It was evening when Andrew left the Stevens' residence. He took a cab home, but as he exited the vehicle, a mocking voice called out.
"Well, well, if it isn't Dr. Lloyd! Moving up in the world, aren't you? Living in Moonlit Sanctuary!"
Andrew turned to see Francesca, dressed in workout gear, regarding him disdainfully. He found her annoying and tried to ignore her.
However, Francesca followed, sneering. "Andrew, be honestโdid Lauren buy this place for you?"
"I don't know what you're talking about. I've always lived here," Andrew replied flatly.
Francesca scoffed. "Always lived here? I've never seen you before! Moonlit Sanctuary is Jayrodale's most exclusive neighborhood. You expect me to believe Lauren didn't buy this for you?"
Andrew shrugged. "I don't care what you believe. But show me some respect. Without my help, you might never experience the pleasure of a man's company!"
