Chapter 54
Harvey shifted uncomfortably, his expression darkening. If Douglas died from the effects of his gift, he would be directly responsible. He hadn't even acquired Christina yet, and now he might have killed her grandfather.
Quickly pulling out his phone, Harvey called Dr. Cedric Aicker, explaining the emergency and requesting his immediate presence.
Christina turned desperately to Andrew, pleading, "Andrew, you're a doctor. Please help Grandpa! He was fine just a moment ago!"
"I warned everyone that the pill was fake and dangerous," Andrew replied coldly. "The entire Stevens family, including you, accused me of being petty. Now that there's trouble, you conveniently remember I'm a doctor?"
Christina's face flushed with shame, but her pride prevented her from admitting her mistake. "We can discuss that later! Please just help Grandpa first!"
Andrew stepped forward, quickly applying pressure to several pressure points to stanch the bleeding. With therapeutic massage, Douglas's breathing eventually steadied. Andrew then had Leroy help him move Douglas to bed.
Despite the family's snobbery, Douglas had always been kind to him, so Andrew couldn't ignore his suffering.
"Mrs. Stevens, Christie, Leroyโdon't worry," Harvey announced confidently once Douglas was stable. "I've already called Dr. Cedric Aicker."
Irene gasped, her eyes widening. "You mean the Dr. Cedric Aicker, the most renowned physician in Jayrodale?"
Harvey nodded, smiling with pride. "That's right."
The Stevens family erupted in impressed murmurs. Their comments ranged from awe at Harvey's connections to the exclusivity of Dr. Aicker's practice.
Their admiration for Harvey's influence completely overshadowed the fact that his fake pill had caused the problem, effectively ignoring Andrew's life-saving intervention.
"Andrew, Dr. Aicker will be here soon, so we don't need you here. Dad will be just fine without you," Irene stated coldly.
Andrew laughed. "So, you're saying I wasted my time helping?"
Irene huffed. "Think what you want. All I'm saying is, whatever needs doing, Harvey can make it happen."
Christina frowned. "Mom, that's too harsh. Andrew did stop Grandpa's bleeding in the emergency."
"So what?" Irene snapped. "His basic skills can't compare to Dr. Aicker's. As soon as Dr. Aicker arrives, Dad's condition will be completely cured."
Harvey smiled and chimed in, "While Andrew didn't do much, we should still appreciate his concern. Once Dr. Aicker arrives, Mr. Stevens Senior will be fine, but we should thank Andrew for his good intentions!"
Andrew raised an eyebrow. "Are you saying I'm incompetent and worried for nothing? Perhaps you can explain what caused Mr. Stevens Senior to bleed?"
Harvey could only force an awkward smile to hide his embarrassment, while his eyes flashed dangerously. He was enraged that someone like Andrew kept challenging him. Did he think being Jayrodale's most prominent bachelor meant nothing?
