Listen to this chapter:

Bernard and Philip approached, looking apologetic. โ€œWeโ€™re sorry, Ms. Rhodes,โ€ Bernard began. โ€œMs. Ceceliaโ€™s condition is critical. Weโ€™ve done all we can.โ€

Philip added, his voice laced with frustration, โ€œThe initial treatment seemed promising, but suddenly, her breathing weakened dramatically. Itโ€™s not a lack of skill, Ms. Rhodes. Weโ€™re facing an impossible situation.โ€

Before Philip finished, Lauren slapped him.

โ€œMs. Rhodes, what was thatโ€ฆ?โ€ Bernard began, but Lauren cut him off.

โ€œYou idiot!โ€ she seethed, trembling with rage. โ€œDidnโ€™t you boast about saving Cece?โ€

Philip stood speechless and humiliated, his cheek stinging. Lauren turned to Bernard, her voice dripping venom. โ€œDr. Hackett, Iโ€™ll ask you one last time. Is there anyone else who can help? If anything happens to her, you and your incompetent son will face severe consequences.โ€

Bernard, visibly shaken, stammered, โ€œThere isโ€ฆ one person we could tryโ€ฆ Dr. Andrew Lloyd.โ€

โ€œWho?โ€

โ€œDr. Andrew Lloyd.โ€

Laurenโ€™s eyes lit up. โ€œOf course! Dr. Lloyd! Quick, get him!โ€

Consumed by jealousy, Philip mocked, โ€œAndrewโ€™s in my department. Heโ€™s not up to this task.โ€

Laurenโ€™s eyes flashed. โ€œShut your mouth! If you dare speak again, Iโ€™ll remove your tongue!โ€

Philipโ€™s face paled, knowing heโ€™d ruined his reputation. Yet, he couldnโ€™t bear Andrewโ€™s favor.

Andrew arrived. He glanced at Lauren and said sternly, โ€œThereโ€™s no need to summon me. Saving lives is my job. As the patientโ€™s sister, you should focus on helping, not venting. Come with me.โ€

Laurenโ€™s cheeks flushed at his unexpected rebuke. She was stunned. Eunice intervened, โ€œDr. Lloyd, please show more respect to Ms. Rhodes.โ€

Andrew, already striding toward the emergency room, replied without turning, โ€œI prioritize whatโ€™s right over whoโ€™s important. If that offends you, find another doctor.โ€

As Eunice sputtered, Lauren raised a hand to stop her. Watching Andrew, she realized his blunt words hadnโ€™t angered her.

In the emergency room, Andrew donned gloves and began. The little girl on the operating table was deathly pale, bluish, and barely breathing.

Philip and Bernard watched, internally scoffing. They thought the case hopeless and were eager to see Andrew fail. If Cecelia died, they could shift the blame.

โ€œAndrew, weโ€™ve tried everything,โ€ Philip said coldly. โ€œWhat else can you do?โ€

Ignoring him, Andrew requested a scalpel from a nearby nurse and made an incision on Ceceliaโ€™s wrist. Blood flowed, alarming everyone.

Bernard exclaimed, โ€œDr. Lloyd, what are you doing? How can you justify bloodletting?โ€

Lauren watched, equally frightened. Andrew replied calmly, โ€œIโ€™m draining toxins. Initially, the poison was superficial, treatable with medication. But due to the delay, itโ€™s in her bloodstream. Bloodletting is our only option.โ€

Philip retorted angrily, โ€œThatโ€™s nonsense! I wouldโ€™ve noticed poison immediately.โ€

Just then, another doctor gasped, โ€œIt is poison! Her blood is turning black!โ€

Ceceliaโ€™s blood had turned murky black. Philipโ€™s face reddened with embarrassment.

Bernard frowned. โ€œDr. Lloyd, sheโ€™s a child. Even if you remove the toxins, she might not survive the blood loss.โ€

Andrew remained composed. โ€œWeโ€™ll give her a blood transfusion during detoxification.โ€

Bernard shook his head. โ€œThatโ€™s impossible.โ€

Andrew turned to Lauren, gesturing to her wrist. โ€œYouโ€™re sisters, and your blood types match. Youโ€™ll donate blood.โ€

Bernard immediately objected, โ€œDr. Lloyd, this is madness! Youโ€™ll cause her blood pressure to skyrocket. No one could save her then.โ€

Another senior doctor added, โ€œAndrew, this method wonโ€™t work. At the very least, draw Ms. Rhodesโ€™ blood first and transfuse it properly.โ€

Andrew had already connected Lauren and Cecelia with an IV line. โ€œUnder normal circumstances, youโ€™d be correct. But we canโ€™t afford delays.โ€

Philip seized the opportunity. โ€œYou talk a good game, but youโ€™ll cause harm. Cecelia and Ms. Rhodes will be at risk.โ€

Andrewโ€™s tone grew cold. โ€œYouโ€™ve been interfering. If youโ€™re so knowledgeable, why donโ€™t you take over?โ€

Philip bit his lip. โ€œFine, letโ€™s see how you save her.โ€

With lightning speed, Andrew pressed several points on Ceceliaโ€™s body. Blood from Lauren flowed smoothly into Cecelia, while poisoned blood drained from the other wrist. The process seemed perfectly balanced. Color returned to Ceceliaโ€™s face.

The medical staff were stunned. Bernard looked at Andrew, unable to hide his shock.

โ€œDr. Lloyd, w-was thatโ€ฆ some sort of pressure-point techniqueโ€ฆ from an ancient medical practice?โ€
