Chapter 472

Marcus gave a bitter smile as tears glistened in his eyes. He said, "Mr. Lloyd, youโ€™re a good man, and an even more open-minded one. Though we havenโ€™t known each other long, I truly admire and respect you!"

He continued, "Unfortunately, even saints canโ€™t save everyone, and Iโ€™m just a poor soul trapped in quicksand with no way back!"

Standing at the rooftopโ€™s edge for so long had taken its toll on Marcusโ€™ body and mind. He swayed more noticeably now, looking as if he might fall at any moment.

A gasp rippled through the crowd behind him, and a few female employees started crying. Amidst the chaos, several angry voices cursed at Andrew, their words sharp and cutting.

Andrew ignored all the distractions and focused solely on Marcus. He called out, โ€œMr. Chapman, I want to tell you something. You say even saints canโ€™t save everyone, but let me make one thing clearโ€“if they canโ€™t, I can. If they canโ€™t bring someone back from despair, then I, Andrew Lloyd, will.โ€

Marcus blinked in confusion, his expression momentarily softening. โ€œIs there really someone like that in this world?โ€

Unnoticed by Marcus, Andrew had quietly moved a few steps closer. The distance between them was now less than 10 meters.

Trying to keep Marcus engaged, Andrew asked, โ€œMr. Chapman, howโ€™s Lucy doing lately? Why donโ€™t you bring her to the company so I can check on her?โ€

Lucy was Marcusโ€™s daughterโ€“Andrew had learned this during her stay at Jayrodale General Hospital.

At the mention of his daughter, Marcusโ€™s face softened with affection. He replied, โ€œLucyโ€™s doing well. She still talks about you and Dr. Aicker all the time.โ€

His expression suddenly changed as he cried out, โ€œBut my precious Lucyโ€ฆ Sheโ€™s gone!โ€

Then, he closed his eyes and began falling backward.

In that moment, everyoneโ€™s heart stoppedโ€“including Laurenโ€™s, whose face turned ghostly white. They all thought it was over, that they had failed to save him.

However, Andrew refused to give upโ€“he had never known the meaning of surrender. He covered the thirty-foot distance in a split second, every muscle in his body exploding with superhuman speed.

It was not the kind of strength an ordinary person could musterโ€“it was something extraordinary, something only a master at the peak of physical discipline could achieve.

The crowd behind them erupted in screams as they watched in stunned disbelief. Andrew had leaped after Marcus.

Eunice gasped and blurted out, โ€œMiss, do you think Mr. Lloyd just gave up and decided toโ€ฆ end it all with him?โ€

Lauren responded by slapping her across the face and snapped, โ€œShut up!โ€

Andrew had managed to grab the rooftopโ€™s edge with one hand while holding onto Marcusโ€™ suit jacket with the other. The two of them dangled over a hundred feet above the ground, swaying precariously as strong winds buffeted them.

Below the Rhodes Corporation building, pedestrians froze in shock, quickly pulling out their phones to record the scene.

Someone shouted, โ€œHoly cow, is that guy a superhero or something? Thatโ€™s incredibly cool!โ€

โ€œHow is he holding up both himself and the other guy with one arm? Thatโ€™s not just strength; thatโ€™s superhuman!โ€

โ€œForget about saving someoneโ€“Iโ€™d probably wet myself just looking down from that height,โ€ a third person added.

โ€œForget just wetting yourselfโ€“I bet youโ€™d straight-up lose it!โ€

The onlookers exchanged awed remarks, unable to believe what they were witnessing.
