Chapter 360

โ€œContact someone? Canโ€™t do that, they took my phone,โ€ Andrew said with a smile.

โ€œThen how can you remain so calm, Mr. Lloyd?โ€ Elsie sighed helplessly.

Andrew simply replied, โ€œDonโ€™t worry, someone will come get us out soon.โ€

Elsie shook her head doubtfully. Donald was the Police Commissioner of Jayrodale with considerable power and influence, and she was not even sure if Silas could help, given Donaldโ€™s earlier dismissive attitude.

In his office, Donald immediately called Aspen. โ€œAspen, itโ€™s all taken care of. I have the security case right here. When would you like to collect it?โ€

โ€œNo rush,โ€ Aspen replied. โ€œFirst, tell me how youโ€™ll handle this fraud case.โ€

Donald laughed darkly. โ€œAs you mentioned, the case involves over 100 million dollars and priceless antiquities. Once we hand him over to the judicial system, he wonโ€™t see daylight for at least 20 years.โ€

Aspen chuckled and said, โ€œIn that case, Iโ€™ll let you send him off for his free lunch as soon as possible.โ€

Donald laughed slyly. โ€œAspen, Iโ€™m a straightforward guy, so let me cut to the chase. Iโ€™ve been running around helping you with all this. When are we going to โ€˜reconnectโ€™ as classmates and have a private dinner together?โ€

Aspen laughed sweetly, her tone laced with teasing. โ€œI knew you wouldnโ€™t miss the chance, but before dinner, I want to see Andrew in prison stripes, sewing away in a workshop. And donโ€™t even think about touching anything in that locked caseโ€“it needs to return to me exactly as it is.โ€

Donald grinned. โ€œNo problem. With the evidence in hand, getting rid of that guy is just a matter of a few words for someone like me.โ€

After hanging up, Donald rubbed his hands together, his chubby face alight with a lecherous grin. When he invited Aspen for dinner, he had not meant a regular mealโ€“his real plan was to book a suite and make it a private dinner.

At their level, they need not say these things outrightโ€“it would come off as too vulgar and undignified. Nonetheless, Donald trusted Aspen to understand his true intentions.

People like them did not need explicit words. They were on the same wavelength.

As his gaze shifted to Andrewโ€™s locked case, Donaldโ€™s curiosity grew. Aspen seemed particularly interested in it, which meant it had to be something valuable.

Scratching his chin, greed began to take over. Without hesitation, he reached for the case and tried to open it himself.

Chapter 300

After several failed attempts at guessing the code, he scowled and called in one of his subordinates. โ€œBring me some tools and get this case open.โ€

The officer hesitated. โ€œMr. Warren, technically, this is evidence. Weโ€™re not supposed to tamper with it."

Donald slapped him across the head and barked, โ€œDonโ€™t give me that crap. Iโ€™m the one in charge here, and thereโ€™s nothing I canโ€™t touch!โ€

Reluctantly, the subordinate obeyed, but even after working on it for a while, the case remained sealed. The lockbox, designed by Radiant Group for securing valuables, was nearly indestructibleโ€“ordinary tools, and even explosives, would not do a thing.

Frustrated, Donald grabbed the case and stomped into the holding area where Andrew was being kept.

โ€œListen up, kid,โ€ he sneered, holding the case in front of Andrew. โ€œBe a good boy and open this up, and maybe Iโ€™ll make your stay here a little less miserable.โ€
