Chapter 322
Orionโs sharp words enraged Cedric. He raised the statue, ready to smash it, but Francesca and Elsie intervened, calming him.
Francesca asked anxiously, โGrandpa, why are you so upset?โ
Cedricโs face flushed crimson and then paled as he gritted his teeth. โDo you see this statue? Orion tricked me into buying it for ten millionโa fake! That rotten cheat!โ
Francesca, livid, moved to confront Orion, but Elsie restrained her.
โMs. Aicker, you shouldnโt,โ Elsie said, shaking her head.
โWhy not?โ Francesca retorted. โJust because heโs a big shot, heโs allowed to scam people?โ
Elsie sighed. โThat man is Orion Kelce, a top antique expert from Bridgefields. Heโs highly respected in the field.โ
Francesca remained unconvinced. โSo what if heโs an expert? Does that give him the right to cheat others?โ
Elsie replied with a wry smile, โUnfortunately, in this appraisal event, all sales are final. The event tests oneโs ability to identify genuine items. If someone lacks the knowledge and is tricked, itโs considered part of the game. Complaints aren't entertained.โ
Cedricโs face was grim. โForget it, Fran. Itโs our bad luck. That old cheat only preys on amateurs like me. One day, when heโs sick and dying, Iโllโฆโ he muttered darkly, trailing off.
Francesca fumed. โThat cheater dares to strut around our town like he owns it? Canโt anyone challenge him?โ
Elsie shrugged helplessly. โMr. Kelce is incredibly skilled. Most wouldnโt dare challenge him.โ
She added, โAt events like this, the stakes are incredibly highโmillions, sometimes tens of millions. To challenge him and lose means more than losing face; they could lose everything.โ
Andrew chuckled. โIโm not so sure about that.โ
Elsie looked at him in surprise. โMr. Lloyd, what do you mean?โ
Andrew smiled. โMr. Kelce might not be as invincible as everyone thinks.โ
Elsie blinked, attributing Andrewโs confidence to youthful arrogance. Many disliked Orion, but none dared openly challenge him.
Across the way, Orion shook his head, looking smug and unconcerned.
โJayrodaleโs antique scene is clearly declining,โ he said disdainfully. โEven Cedric doesnโt dare play anymore. Is there no one brave enough to challenge me?โ
He gestured grandly at the crowd. โDonโt worry, I wonโt embarrass you too much. Iโll even teach you a thing or two about appraisal and genuine antiques.โ
The antique experts hired by Radiant Group scowled but remained silent, clearly reluctant to engage with Orion.
Just then, a clear, confident female voice rang out. โWell, Mr. Kelce, itโs been a while, but youโre just as arrogant as ever.โ
The crowd turned, curious about who dared speak to Orion in that manner. The crowd parted to reveal two striking women approaching the center.
Orion chuckled upon seeing them. โWell, well. Look who it isโAspen Stevens. Still as sharp-tongued as ever, I see.โ
Andrewโs eyes narrowed, recognizing the newcomers. Of all people, it was Christina and Aspen.
โTalk about a small world,โ he muttered.
