Chapter 2228

On the other side, Sheena stormed into a garden with her followers.

One muttered, โ€œSheena, why do you act so differently just because that bastard came back?โ€

โ€œYeah, whatโ€™s he worth that youโ€™d get mad over him?โ€

Sheena suddenly stopped and spun around with a cold glare. โ€œShut your filthy mouths. Who said I was angry at him?

โ€œEnough! Leave. Do whatever you were supposed to be doing. And no one is allowed to bother Andrew at his familyโ€™s property. Anyone who dares to stir trouble there, Iโ€™ll break their legs myself.โ€

The dozen Lloyd clansmen behind her all shrank back.

When Sheena threatened to break legs, she usually went for something much worse. Her infamous low blows had ended the family lineage for quite a number of men.

Soon, the group dispersed, leaving Sheena alone. She circled past a flowerbed and saw an elderly man tending to the plants with a watering can.

โ€œGrandpa, that little bastard is back. Just like you predicted, he showed up empty-handed without even bringing a gift. Heโ€™s still the same as before! That stupid grin on his face, daring to stand against meโ€ฆ I didnโ€™t even want to waste my breath on him.โ€

Sheena continued her tirade without pause, listing complaint after complaint.

Donovan Lloydโ€™s hair was silver-white with age, and he did not even look up from watering his flowers when he heard her words.

He chuckled and said, โ€œWell, thatโ€™s actually good news. At least it shows his feelings toward you havenโ€™t changed much. If heโ€™d been all proper and polite with you, then Iโ€™d really have something to worry about.โ€

Sheena snorted coldly. โ€œHeโ€™s nearly 30 years old and still acts like that. Whereโ€™s the dignity of a family heir? Back then, you said it would be good for him to go out and experience some hardship.

โ€œBut ten years have passed, and who knows if he actually suffered at all? His personality hasnโ€™t improved one bit, and on top of that, heโ€™s still pathetically weak. He hasnโ€™t even reached martial emperor level!โ€

She let out a long, disappointed sigh.

Donovan looked up at his granddaughter with an annoyed expression. โ€œDo you think his life out there was like yours here in the family, living in luxury, having everyone at your beck and call, getting whatever you want, and commanding respect wherever you go?

โ€œSheena, you were born with natural martial talent; breaking through levels is as easy as drinking water for you. Youโ€™ve had smooth sailing your entire life because you were born to enjoy good fortune.

โ€œBut that boy is different from you. He was born to face tribulation. If he doesnโ€™t break through those calamities, then karma and chaos will cling to him forever. Yet if he overcomes the trials in his heart and the trials of the world, then he will be invincible, he will be a ruler.โ€

Sheena curled her lip with complete disdain. โ€œInvincible? A ruler? I could beat him to death with one hand right now.โ€

Donovan chuckled and suddenly asked, โ€œDo you know why youโ€™re like a wild horse that doesnโ€™t need reins, free to run across the boundless martial path, while the family never interferes with you? And why Andrew is like a wild stallion that must be chained, even with iron shackles, or else no one knows what chaos heโ€™d cause?โ€

Sheena snorted. โ€œOf course I know. Itโ€™s because Iโ€™m naturally brilliant and donโ€™t need the family or anyone else to interfere. On my own, I can rise to the peak. Heโ€™s just a defective product who needs family cultivation and secret guidance from the elders to have any hope of amounting to anything.โ€
