Listen to this chapter:

โ€œBelle, how are you feeling?โ€ Mikayla asked with concern as they stood on the runway.

Tears welled in Isabelleโ€™s eyes. โ€œMikayla, it hurts. Grandpa always said I wouldnโ€™t feel pain anymore, but why does it hurt so much this time?โ€

Mikaylaโ€™s face darkened because she did not know the answer either. Isabelleโ€™s Awakened Reaperโ€™s Wrath had already reached minor mastery, and ordinary injuries never made her feel anything. Yet, the wound Andrew left made her scream in agony, which meant his strike was far from ordinary.

โ€œBelle, hang in there. Iโ€™ll apply some medicine when we get back,โ€ Mikayla comforted her while helping her to her feet. She added, โ€œMr. Robertson Senior will be furious when he finds out you were hurt like this.โ€

Thinking of Andrewโ€™s cold indifference as he left, Mikayla gritted her teeth. Her intention was obvious. She hoped the Robertson family patriarch, Vernon Robertson, a true martial emperor, would step in.

However, Isabelleโ€™s response caught her completely off guard. โ€œMikayla, I wonโ€™t tell Grandpa. Even if Grandpa wants to intervene, I wonโ€™t allow it.โ€

Mikayla was shocked. โ€œWhy not? Belle, youโ€™re one of the three prodigies of the Robertson family. You canโ€™t let yourself be humiliated like this.โ€

Isabelle shook her head. โ€œItโ€™s not humiliation. I just wasnโ€™t skilled enough. Besides, at the last moment, I could tell Andrew held back against me. Itโ€™s ridiculous that despite wanting to kill him, when I couldnโ€™t beat him, he still went easy on me in the end."

โ€œMikayla, I really hate this feeling. It makes me despise myself. If Andrew had killed me with one strike, I would have felt better about it.โ€

Mikayla remained speechless for a long moment. Isabelleโ€™s thought process was beyond most peopleโ€™s comprehension. Even she could not understand it half the time. Now it seemed like Isabelle actually felt guilty toward Andrew. Mikayla could not help but think she was either genuinely kind-hearted or had some seriously unusual thought process.

Looking up, Mikayla suddenly called out, โ€œGeneral Phelan, please wait.โ€

Luna, who was about to leave, stopped and turned back to look at her.

Mikayla said coldly, โ€œWhy did you come to the airport alone? Is the military planning to protect Andrew?โ€

Luna shook her head. โ€œIt has nothing to do with the military. This is personal.โ€

Mikayla breathed a sigh of relief. As long as the military didnโ€™t interfere, things would be much easier. Then again, what did Luna mean by personal reasons?

Staring at Luna for a long moment, Mikayla smirked. โ€œGeneral Phelan, are you interested in the Lloyd familyโ€™s Dragon Prince?โ€

Lunaโ€™s face flushed, but she maintained her composure. โ€œThatโ€™s none of your business, Ms. Owens. Though I heard that years ago, you used to follow him around, calling him โ€˜Andrewโ€™ so sweetly. The Owens family is rising in Chetvine and is on track to become a major power. They have also received many favors from the Lloyd royal family. I never expected that you would end up harboring such hatred toward him.โ€

Mikaylaโ€™s heart blazed with anger, but her cold smile remained. โ€œThatโ€™s none of your concern, General Phelan. Everything is my personal business. Furthermore, the Owens family has already cut ties with the Lloyd royal family. Our current ally is Belleโ€™s Robertson family.โ€

Luna nodded with a knowing smile. โ€œI know. Everyone in Chetvine knows that. Youโ€™ve managed your family so well. No matter what happens, you always manage to find the biggest, strongest backing to latch onto.โ€

Mikayla took a deep breath and walked away with a cold expression.
