“What are you thinking about?” Tracia asked suddenly.

“About someone… a man,” Lauren replied softly.

“Ms. Rhodes, you’re such a stunning beauty. I’m curious who could be on your mind,” Tracia said with interest.

“His name is Andrew Lloyd,” Lauren answered honestly. “He’s an incredibly skilled doctor and quite handsome. Before I met him, I never knew loving someone could be so painful—sometimes the loneliness makes me want to cry.”

“Shut up! I don’t want to hear this nonsense,” Tracia snapped.

Lauren studied Tracia’s scarred face with sudden understanding. “You’ve never been in love, have you, Tracia? Or rather, no man has ever loved you?”

Tracia’s expression turned ugly. “Men are all worthless idiots. Their so-called love makes me sick. Since you’re about to die anyway, I don’t mind sharing this with you. When I was young, I met several men who betrayed me—sweet-talking liars who got what they deserved when I cut their throats! Tell me, what else are men but trash?”

Lauren shook her head sympathetically. “Of course, the men you met were trash, Tracia. But Andrew isn’t like that. Even though his heart belongs to another woman, I still think he’s perfect.”

Tracia’s rage flared as she advanced menacingly. “I can’t stand hearing pretty girls like you praise men in front of me.”

“What are you doing?” Lauren asked defensively, backing away.

Tracia snarled viciously. “I’m going to destroy that beautiful face of yours and make you uglier than me. Let’s see if any man loves you then! Don’t worry, I won’t kill you—I promised someone else that privilege. I’ll just ruin that face I’m so jealous of.”

Lauren turned to run, but Tracia lunged with incredible speed, reaching for her face. “You can’t escape! I’ll make you look worse than a demon from hell!”

Lauren felt despair wash over her at the sound of Tracia's monstrous laughter. Beauty was a woman’s most precious asset, and Lauren’s was legendary. If disfigured, she decided she would end her life.

“Goodbye, Andrew,” she thought, tears rolling down her cheeks as she closed her eyes.

Suddenly, a thunderous roar filled the air as a Porsche Panamera burst through the dense forest.

Tracia’s expression changed as she twisted, barely dodging the vehicle.

Before the car stopped, a figure kicked open the door and leaped out. The speeding Porsche crashed into a large boulder with a deafening bang, completely totaling the car.

However, the man who emerged didn't even glance at the wreckage. He only looked at the tearful Lauren, his handsome face filled with guilt. “I’m sorry I’m late!”
