Chapter 1394
Thomas let out a vague grunt and turned his head away. From the look of it, the most promising leader of Blumedale Hospital seemed utterly drained, like he had not slept a wink all night.
As for his prized apprentice, Jared, there was only one way to describe himโlike someone mourning the dead.
When Andrew glanced his way, Jared immediately looked elsewhere. Right now, he did not even have the courage to meet Andrewโs eyes. He could not help but feel defeated; Andrewโs skills had completely outshone even his own mentor, Thomas, so what chance did a junior like him stand?
Especially when even Mosby, the reigning champion of the Grand Medical Summit, had fallen to Andrew.
Since last night, Jared had spent hours figuring out how on earth Andrew was this ridiculously good.
Sitting at the head of the room, Malcolm chuckled warmly and said, โAndy, youโre one of us now โ come, have a seat.โ
Andrew did not stand on ceremony and took the open seat. He asked casually, โSo, Dr. Goddard, may I ask why you called me here today?โ
Malcolm smiled and replied, โOh, nothing too serious. You just won the Grand Medical Summit title, and Blumedale Hospital wants to show our appreciation with a little reward.โ
Andrew grinned. โWell, if itโs a reward, I wonโt be shy about it!โ
Malcolm waved him off with a laugh. โItโs nothing too fancy, probably wonโt even catch your eye. This time, I mainly wanted to get your thoughts. Iโd like to know if youโd be open to taking up a position here at Blumedale Hospital.โ
Andrew already had a feeling this would come up, so his reaction was rather mild. โI appreciate the offer, but Iโve got way too much on my plate right now. Itโs just not a good time.โ
Malcolm tried to persuade him, saying, โNo worries. You could just take an honorary role. We wouldnโt expect you to be here every day โ just lend a hand when weโre facing a really tough case.โ
Andrew raised an eyebrow with a smile. โSo, what kind of position are you thinking of offering me, Dr. Goddard?โ
Malcolm glanced at Thomas, then said with a grin, โHow about Deputy Chief? I figure the role of Deputy Chief at Blumedale Hospital should be appealing enough for someone like you, Andy.โ
Andrew feigned surprise. โWhoa, I donโt know about that! A title like that at such a major institution? Thatโs a big responsibility. Iโm not sure I could handle it.โ
Thomas finally could not hold his tongue anymore. โWell then, Dr. Lloyd, since you admit it might be too much for nowโฆ How about this โ why donโt you just join as a Head of Department for the time being?"
Andrew gave a relaxed smile. โNope. Not happening.โ
No one expected Andrew to be that blunt, and Thomas's expression instantly turned sour. โThen what position are you expecting, Dr. Lloyd?โ
Andrew replied with a question of his own. โBefore I answer that, may I ask โ Dr. Bozzelli, whatโs your current position at Blumedale?โ
Thomas let out a sharp huff. โIsnโt it obvious? Iโm the Deputy Chief. One step below Dr. Pearce himself.โ
Andrew kept smiling. โThatโs interesting. Since Dr. Bozzelli, my former opponent, is holding the Deputy Chief titleโฆ Shouldnโt I, the Grand Physician, be offered a position higher than yours?โ
Thomasโ face flushed crimson, and he snapped, โAndrew, youโฆโ
However, Andrew cut him off with a sarcastic laugh. โRelax, Iโm not here to fight you for a title, Dr. Bozzelli. I donโt plan on joining Blumedale Hospital at all. But, Dr. Bozzelli โ you do need to hand someone over to me.โ
Thomas secretly breathed a sigh of relief. If Andrew was not coming to Blumedale, then at least his own influence remained intact.
