Chapter 1148

Aspen said, โ€œYouโ€™re the one who killed Seth. The Haywoods are going to target you firstโ€”so youโ€™d better leave now while you still can!โ€

Andrew said nothing. Instead, he walked toward her slowly, one step at a time.

Aspen frowned and instinctively took a step back. The space between them was too close for comfort, and it made her uneasy.

However, Andrew did not stopโ€”he kept moving in, ignoring her resistance entirely.

Aspen soon found herself backed up against the wall. Her expression turned cold as she snapped, โ€œWhat are you doing?โ€

Andrew leaned in, towering over her. โ€œAspen, somethingโ€™s off with you.โ€

โ€œWhat are you talking about?โ€

โ€œYou areโ€ฆ worried about my safety, arenโ€™t you?โ€

Aspen shoved him hard, her face flushing as she barked, โ€œI wasnโ€™t joking just now! If youโ€™re not taking this seriously, then just forget I said anything!โ€

Her heart was pounding. For a second, she thought Andrew was going to kiss her. If he had, she would have bitten his tongue off without hesitation.

The skies over Blumedale were dark and heavy. From the mountaintop estate of The Sovereign Residences, it looked like a torrential storm was about to crash down.

The Haywoodsโ€™ estate, located in the wealthy western district of Blumedale, was massive, grand, luxurious, and opulent, as one would expect from one of The Five Apex Families.

But inside, the mood was grim and suffocating.

โ€œEffective immediatelyโ€”issue the family kill order,โ€ roared the Haywood familyโ€™s patriarch, Roy Haywood, his voice shaking the entire estate.

โ€œWeโ€™re putting a bounty of half a billion on that bastard Andrew! I want him hunted until thereโ€™s nothing left to bury!โ€

The roar echoed through the halls like thunder, sending waves of terror through servants and Haywood heirs alike.

Xavier, clad in combat gear, stood silently, his face dark as stone. โ€œFather, Iโ€™m partially responsible for what happened to Seth. If I hadnโ€™t let him go after Andrew on my watch, it wouldnโ€™t have ended in death.โ€

Royโ€™s face twisted with fury. โ€œItโ€™s already too late for ifs and buts! I have plenty of sonsโ€”losing one or two doesnโ€™t bother me. But the Haywoodsโ€™ dignity? Thatโ€™s worth more than all our lives put together.โ€

He hissed, โ€œIโ€™ll have that punk ripped limb from limb for humiliating our name!โ€

Xavier clenched his jaw, fists cracking with pressure. โ€œDonโ€™t worry, Father. Iโ€™ll avenge Seth myself. Iโ€™ll personally bring Andrewโ€™s head back.โ€

Royโ€™s tone dropped to something colder, almost condescending. โ€œYouโ€™re our brightest star, Xavier. You donโ€™t need to get your hands dirty. If you do, itโ€™ll make the other families laugh and think weโ€™ve got no one left to send."

โ€œThe kill orderโ€™s price is higher than anything the Goldings ever offered. Half a billionโ€”weโ€™ll drown him in assassins.โ€

Xavier nodded, his voice like ice. โ€œFor that price, heโ€™ll die a thousand deaths. He may be hiding in The Sovereign Residences, and sure, the killers wonโ€™t dare enter. But the moment he steps outside, the assassination attempts will be relentless.โ€

In the corner, the old butler who had been silent until now cautiously lifted his eyes. โ€œMr. Roy, Mr. Xavierโ€”should we begin making arrangements for Mr. Sethโ€™s funeral?โ€

Xavierโ€™s hands clenched tighter, his body brimming with rage. Bones cracked under the pressure.

He said coldly, โ€œNo rush. We start the funeral the day Andrewโ€™s head lands at Sethโ€™s altar. I want to offer that bastardโ€™s skull as a tribute for 49 days straight!โ€

The butler nodded. โ€œOf course, sir. Butโ€ฆ Mr. Sethโ€™s body wonโ€™t keep for too long. We should begin preparations sooner rather than later.โ€

Xavier raised three fingers, and his voice boomed with dominance. โ€œThree days! If that bastardโ€™s head isnโ€™t laid at Sethโ€™s altar in three days, then Iโ€™ll offer my own life as an apology to Seth!โ€

Royโ€™s brows twitched. He did not like hearing those kinds of words from his eldest son. After all, Xavier was the most promising heir of the Haywoods, and talking about dying was never a good thing.

But then again, this fire, this pride, this absolute dominance was exactly what a true Haywood man was supposed to be.

So, Roy said nothing of it. He believed that three days would be enough.
